I just recently purchased a Ricoh GRDII. I turn the monitor off most of the time, pre-set the lens to 5.6 or 8, set the focus in the snap mode, and it becomes about as simple of a P&S camera as you can get. Just press the shutter button and it takes the photo.

Anybody like the Olympus Infinity AF (non-zoom)? It has a 35mm f2.8 lens. I just picked one up at the thrift store over my lunch break. I noticed it has no way of adjusting the ASA.

I have a bunch and don't use them that much. Oly XA2, Holga, Canon Sure Shot, Ricoh AF-5, and on the digital side a Canon 590is.

Yes, that camera has a superb lens if it's the one I think you're talking about. Mine has a Zuiko 2.8 lens (it was the last p&s to carry the Zuiko name I believe) and produces very sharp pictures. Very nice camera and weather resistant too! I also have the Infinity II, the successor to this camera and it has a defeatable flash and the same 2.8 lens--minus the Zuiko moniker. At present my p&s cameras in use are the Stylus Epic, Minolta AF-C, Minolta Hi-Matic AF, and Canon MC. I also have the original Stylus f/3.5 but it doesn't get much use, and I have a Canon Autoboy 3 (Sure Shot Supreme Quartz Date) loaded and ready to shoot.

Almost all the cameras mentioned are compact cameras, not point and shoot cameras.
I like single use (disposable) cameras now and again.

I realized that I have true P&S camera - well, almost, because it has some control over aperture (ISO lever actually changes aperture, while speed remains same - 1/125) and flash has ON/OFF switch. I mean Konica POP. Solidly built P&S with Hexanon labeled glass lens (simpler than on C35 models, though), I must say, not any like to single use plastic cameras.

I have a few, but i think my absolute favorite for picture quality and ease of use would be the Pentax PC35AF I found at Goodwill in great shape for $4. Point-shoot-find another subject.

The perfect point and shoot is the Leica IIIF with 35mm lens set to hyperfocal distance.

truly P&S? another vote for the Oly mju II here:
it's kinda liberating to "let the camera go", unerving at the same time. I even shot with XP-2 and let a lab develop it.

I occasionally use a Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim 22mm. It's a bare bones P&S with a fixed focal length, aperture and shutter speed. No focusing either. Just a button to trip the shutter and a film advance wheel.

Chris,
What is the focal length of the viewfinder on the Vivitar 22mm? I use a Kodak KV250 with a 28mm lens and 35mm viewfinder. It's hard to beat a new camera & two rolls of film for $12.
