Artists We Miss-What if?

Spending a rare evening listening to some great music from Stevie Ray Vaughn and Albert King, Jimi Hendrix and so many more. And this on the heels of watching a special on golf great, Payne Stewart (not an artist, but I miss him anyway).

Then I started thinking about some of the great artists, not just painters, but all of them and how many no longer with us. I miss them.

But, what if...what if they were still here.:angel:

How would the artistic world, photography in particular, be different today had they not passed on? Galen Rowell....what more could he possibly have done with mountain light? What have we done without and not known what we have missed? So many others. What if?:bang:

Makes me really appreciate all the photographers whom I meet everyday either in person or online, either regularly or for the first time. And makes me start thinking about more personal meetings just to get to know them and their talent even more. It is such an enrichening experience, I can't recommend it enough. So, make plans and try to meet those you know online and get to know the person behind the pictures.😎

All of us do... reflecting on past artists in every genre is a good thing to do since as long as we remember them, in a sense, they are not gone.:angel:

Duane Allman has been dead for nearly 40 years now (hard to believe ... what was it 1974 or 1975?) and yet the Allmans keep making music (even after kicking Dickie Betts out of the band over substance abuse issues). Hard to speculate what might have been if Duane and Barry Oakley hadn't succumbed to motorcycle accidents almost exactly a year apart. I was a big fan of the original Allman Brothers configuration, but never managed to embrace the new generation band with two kids who are children of the original members (both of whom are supposed to be pretty terrific in their own right).

Personally, I'd like to have been around to hear Charlie Parker play live.
