AZ storms - Oly 25

I was in Phoenix 2 weeks ago - 110 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.

Good reporttage - thanks for sharing.

One week ago, we had record breaking rainfall - 5 to 6 inches in six hours. The whole city was shut down, all the kids had a 'rain day' off from school, and even a lot of businesses were closed. Two people died, and dozens of cars were lost to local flooding.

I always enjoy your images and articles. This is no exception!

By all accounts, y'all may have some more records broken towards the end of the week! Be safe!

Arizona is somehow an amazing place. Might be boring for the ones grown up there, but for me as a tourist, it's an amazing place with an enormous variety of landscape, weird things to look at (or photograph).

Thanks guys! Yes, a week ago in Tucson, we had the massive flooding like in Phoenix. One person died. It was insane and scary! Then it was sunny. Then we stumbled on these little storms. It was a nice outing. My girlfriend saw the clouds and rain bursts and wanted to stop and take a few photos of them. I shot these. It was casual shooting. When we passed the burned trees, I wanted to get out and shoot some more photos. We had been detoured more than 50 miles when the fire started there a year ago. I liked how the photos went together. We ended up not shooting anything else all weekend. Best!

The comments made me think about this further and I found it interesting that while we had massive flooding and devastation here in Tucson, that I end up documenting these "Small Storms" and not the big ones I just had to live through. Somehow I guess one references the other, but that I'm looking for the small pockets of calm around the calamity...

I remember shooting photos after devastating floods in NW and having people there commenting on how I missed the major destruction:

...I think it has more to do with me looking to find perspective in the images I take.

...anyway... just thoughts!

Best all and thanks for the support!
