Bare Bones Bag

BBB: "D" Rings

BBB: "D" Rings

The "D" rings for hanging exterior bags..etc. seems like a good idea. Why is it only available with the stealth?

Got my BBB2-S and I have to say all the things that I didn't like about the BBB were adressed by stephen. Velcro and Reflective surfaces are gone :). Now bag is very discreet black, doesn't stick out like other bags and has plenty of room. Initially I got BBB but found it a bit too small. it fit everything i needed ok but it was hard to get to it, once the bag was loaded. BBB2 solves that problem since its a bit bigger.

So far I managed to stuff R-D1, 28mm M-Rokkor, 35mm Jupiter, 40mm Nokton and 75mm VC with Nikon SB-20 flash. everything fits nicely inside, bag is not really heavy. Also I use the back pocket to carry my Kindle DX. usually when i go out shooting i carry less stuff. one body, and 1 or 2 lenses. Since I photograph mostly in Manhattan and live in Brooklyn, I carry my Kindle so I can read on my 1 hour train ride. this combo works very well.

Well, as I said on the other thread, the regular BBB is only large enough for a single rangefinder and one or two lenses. More than that and it's overstuffed.

Yep for me and my stuff that i need to take with me bbb was a bit smaller. bbb2 is much better in terms of space available. its also easier to access the camera and lenses

Bag for Micro Four Thirds

Bag for Micro Four Thirds

A bit of a background: I am a Canon 5D shooter starting to build a new system with Micro Four Thirds. None of the bags I use for that are appropriate for my new, smaller equipment.

Right now I'm using a Crumpler Quarfie. It is really an 'everyday' bag rather than a pure camera bag. I like that it's not poofy and molds to my side. I don't like that it has no padding on the bottom so many times my camera has gone "THUNK" on a table or floor. It has two pockets on the inside (similar to the Bare Bones) but they are too small to hold a lens. I can just barely fit my GF1 and 20mm pancake. I also know they are not waterproof in a downpour (as I found out in Belize).

I had been seriously considering the Domke F-803 (I do like the feel of the canvas after it's been worn in) when I started looking at the Bare Bones Bags.

I have made the mistake in the past of buying bags that are too small for my needs.

So my questions are:

1. I think the Domke F-803 is about the right size for what I need, so would the Bare Bones 2 be the closest match in size to that?

2. Would this bag fit a Panasonic G1 AND a GF-1? Plus a 14-45 and 45-200 lens? The MFT lenses are bigger than Leica, but smaller than, say, Canon EF. It would also need to hold a small (5x8") Moleskine, iPod, perhaps a map, microfiber cloth, etc …

Thanks in advance.

Stephen,Sorry about the economic climate...I too am experiencing a drop in my shop...aside from that I bought your large bag with the reflective flap and can say it is everything and more then I hoped for in a bag....I walk to work 2 miles everyday and leave before sunrise (hence the reflective flap)...no matter what I have stashed in the bag...either M8..pinhole cameras..M2 extra lens ...film ...extra batteries.....etc,etc ..it is the best bag I have used....easiest to find things, easiest to stuff things back inside....I guess I'll have to say to each his own but for me your bag is the best...I just hope you'll be able the weather the storm ....kind regards, Bill

Is anyone going to answer on this thread or is it just dead? For that matter is the BBB dead as well? No one cares to respond either here or on the BBB contact email!

Dave: Good question. I'd be up for a stealth if there were to be a last run of 'em, but Stephen would likely need a given number of firm orders to even consider that. If he does, I'm in.

i just bought a near new bbb2 on another site, hope it will be here soon.
i tried the stealth bag but bought the smaller one and it didn't fit my gear all that well. i'm hoping this next size will be better.
i actually didn't care for the stealth as much as i thought i would, guess i don't find velcro all that annoying.

Let me know if you hear from Stephen or another source...I will sell something to raise the cash for one...

I have one of the BBB2-S bags that I don't really like and can sell. I actually prefer the velcro regular version (I also have a BBB1 regular bag). I wasn't sure it it was worth listing and selling on any board, but there seems to be some people wanting one and its just sitting on my shelf. I'd turn around and buy the BBB2 regular with the cash. Anyway if someone wants it, just email me: cdgerston@gmail.com
I've sold a few things on the board here and, if people prefer, can list the bag there.
