Stephen, I recall a reflective material which I used years ago that eventually shed its reflective layer as grey dust after a year of wear. Maybe this might not be an ideal material for the wearing surface of a shoulder-pad ? Or maybe these things are tougher now, who knows.

stephen - that works better for me. more time to mull it over and less worry for you and your inventory collection. small run, high quality products are worth a bit of a wait.

Does this stock run apply to the BBB2 as well? I ordered mine on the 3rd March, for delivery to the UK, and am wondering if it has been sold out or in transit.
I'm looking forward to trying it out when it does arrive as my current favourite bag has just given up the ghost and I really don't want to lump around my Crumpler bag. My current bag hugs the body relatively well but the BBB range sound like this is one of the biggest attributes of the range and something I think is likely to prove very useful as well as comforatble.
Hopefully I'll find out soon

Stephen, my BBB2 arrived this morning and I have spent the day out in the absolutely pouring rain with x2 M6, an M8, various lenses, iPhone, a small photography book ( inspiration when I'm drinking coffee in the dry,) a sekonic light meter, cigarettes, keys and general other gubbins.
Bloody fantastic bag, extremely impressed indeed. Everything remained bone dry ( except me ) and after 10-15 minutes or so I'd forgotten the bag was even with me. It fits so snugly around your body its like cuddling your wife ( or even someone else's
.)
I opted for the BBB2 in the hope that I could use it for both my RF kit and for pro jobs with a couple of D3s and lenses. As such I was a little concerned that it may end up being perfectly sized for one activity and not the other, as it turns out it seems perfectly sized for both whilst remaining to appear and feel both small and discrete.
I've had so many bags over the years from the Billingham shoulder bags through to Crumpler rucksacks, all of which I've found to be good for certain circumstances but not for a wide range of uses. The rucksacks in particular are great for my back and storage but useless for quick and easy access. The BBB2 on the other hand would appear to suit me perfectly.
So a big thank you from a fellow photog for designing and producing something that is truly practical, well thought out and manufactured.
Best wishes for future projects

After the experience with BBB I've decided to buy also the BBBM... I've received it today (it's a long trip to Spain) and I've being walking with it a couple of hours... as before with BBB completely satisfactory. Perfect size: M2+35mm+50mm+lightmeter+OlympusXA+film
The lack of padding is in no way a problem, and, as it's bigger brother, the construction is solid and very well done.
Thanks Stephen

Bare Bones Bag
I received my Bare Bones Bag. Great construction, tuff and light. Good size for M4-P and two lenses, light meter and film and filters etc. A great product. I also use Domke F-803 and F3X bags but for actually walking about and shooting this is a much better option.

After reading all the comments here, I placed my order for a BBB yesterday. I have a lowepro and a crumpler 5MD for my DSLR. I like the crumpler, it's small but it's for my DSLR... so I need another bag fo my RF

Stephen, I just went through the order process to grab myself a BBB, and realized that PayPal is the only way to pay.. Is it possible to pay with credit card, but not with PayPal? I'm not a PayPal user, and don't intend to be at any time.
Cheers,
Dylan

Why I bought one
Why I bought one
Here is my reply to an email from Stephen:
Thank you, my bag arrived, just as advertised. I really like it. The reason for writing though is to mention my reason for buying it in the first place. Without the stiff padding, I am able to place it in my over night suitcase. It takes about as much space as a long sleeve shirt. My camera and a lens or two is safely stored in my brief case. When I get to my destination, I now have a discreet camera bag that is perfect for a rangefinder, rather than heading out with a big brief case or gear dangerously placed in my pockets. I've tried everything from taking inserts to camera bags of various sizes. Finally, my quest for the perfect travel camera bag is over.
Thanks again!

i'm kind of interested in your bag but totally put off by the absolute lack of any photos on your website. you think that if you're selling a $100+ bag, that you'd have at least more than 1 picture and 1 video, and you know maybe some pictures with stuff in it, besides the few random photos that you have up on this thread.
i have 2 SLRs (pentax mz-s it's slightly taller and thicker than an rf) and three small lenses, would they all go into the BBB2 without the the 2 camera+lenses knocking each other?

Stephen, do you have a video of you (or someone else) actually using the bag? As much as I appreciate the time you've put into displaying the bag on the provided video, I really would like to see one in actual usage (pulling camera/lenses out, placing them back in, etc.).
Thank you.
Thank you.

Wow, I'm really supised that this thread is still going strong. Glad I posted the review and I hope that everyone is enjoying their BBB.
(Stephen - do I get any commission?
Just kidding!)

Yes Stephen, although I love my BBB, every other camera bag company is offering short movies on their products these days. I'd like to see in the field comparison video's along side a few Domke's, Crumpler's and maybe a Lowpro or two. Break out of the pack and tee up Meryl Streep to headline your ad.

Yeah, BBB should pay Stephen Gandy for all the advertising...

Hmmm...I'm not a fan of Meryl Streep, so I might choose another model.
Seriously, the reason I suggested it was because of how flexible the bag is. Even though I can see it as an advantage while carrying, one of the advantages of a bag with semi-rigid foam dividers, is that the compartments retain their shape so I can drop a lens or body inside quickly and securely. My concern with the BBB is that I might have to fiddle around a bit to actually find and open the pocket. I seriously want to get one of these, even though I still prefer natural fibers over the nylon, it's still a bag I REALLY want to like!

The BBBs are great; I have two of them, one of the originals and one of the smallest versions. However, their lack of stiffness does make it hard to remove or add gear at times, mostly when they are full. When I take my Ikon, second lens, lens shades and film in the medium size bag it works fine. But sometimes I also take my DP1 along with its accessories, then it gets hard to manage. Or with the DP1 and a second P&S camera the same thing happens. My iPhone is usually in there too. In these cases I have to use one hand to hold open the main compartment and navigate gear in and out carefully. Having stuff in the pockets reduces access to the main compartment. In other words, it would help if adding to the pockets caused hem to bulge more outward than inward. Also, because there is no stiffness the bag "wraps" around you, which is another reason I have to hold it open sometimes.
So basically, with the BBB rather full it gets tough to manage. A little stiffness would even when it is not full. That said, I still prefer them over others because they fit the gear well, have the right kinds of pockets and are light. I would prefer them in black, but the blue is a nice blue. It might also help if there was a (removable) divider i the main compartment, so that two cameras could sit next to each other without rubbing.
I've never found the lack of padding to be an issue. The velcro works really well (it holds, but not too tightly and opens without a lot of noise), and the handle is easy to adjust. I'm very critical about industrial design and the BBB is great as is and taken for what it is. It's goal is simplicity for the rangefinder or compact camera photographer and it accomplishes that well. Start adding more stuff to the design and it's no longer then BBB.

Man, this thread really is a great commercial for the BBB. So much so that I placed an order for one late last night. Now I'm anxiously waiting for it so I can try it out. And I've been a happy user of a Domke 5xb for some time now. Will be interesting to see how this looser style bag feels in use.

BBB or BBB2 with Nikon DSLR system?
BBB or BBB2 with Nikon DSLR system?
I have no idea where to ask, but here goes.
I am now considering buying the BBB (BBB2) bag or the Domke F3X.
The following item must fit in the bag:
70-200 f2.8
17-35 f2.8
SB 800 Flash Gun
SU 800
Samsung NC10 netbook
Other small bits and bobs
Since I will be using this bag mainly as a lens a lens switch bag for the two D3s, above is the absolute worst case scenario in terms of gears in the bag that I will have to carry.
If there is someone out there with a similar setup, is it possible to take a picture and post it?
My recent trip to Jacobs on Tottenham Court Road proved that the F3X can carry the above gear, but from the 7 pages of praise I have read so far about the BBB and BBB2, I would like to know if this might be a better option for my use.
I wait for more information with bated breath.
