The ABLON takes up almost no room and is very rugged. I don't carry it in my camera bag because I would also have to carry the utility knife I use with it, and that would take up quite a bit of room in my little bag. Not to mention the trouble when flying. What I do instead is pre-cut the leaders on all of my film when I buy it in factory-loaded cartridges or bulk load it in FILCA cassettes.Does an ABLON (or knockoff) travel well in a camera bag? Or is it something that is only used at home, and not taken along on trips?

For a year I used a IIIf regularly as my only camera for weekend outings. I settled on the business card method and my fastest loading time was 30 seconds standing up with the bottom plate in my pocket. I went back to the M and sold all the Barnacks except one because it was attached to a Tom A Rapidwinder and I had lost the stock bottom plate so couldn't sell it. Anyway I tried taking it out for a shoot years later and couldn't for the life of me load the dam thing. I finally gave up. So which ever method you settle on it is matter of practice practice practice.

The bottom plate of my M2 has the drawing, film cassette with long leader, same as my Barnack. I've never loaded the M2 with a long leader.
Will I be sorry some day?
