I asked Stephen to cancel my membership. That's why I kept on checking when it was cancelled today. I have been deleting one thread at a time, but I need to delete many more threads that I started at RFF.
I asked Stephen if it is possible to send me the images in my gallery here. That's all. I have no complaints in my pm to Stephen.

When will moderators and contributors ever understand that we have a global community with many members with English as a second language and to make allowances.
THAT'S what you think the problem is?
have you read any of these threads?

Most of us are photographers, so we put up with the idiosyncrasies of each other because our focus is photography. Then there are a few wannabes and psychos who take everything personally and carry on protracted vendettas on the internet.
People like that should join a support group for anti-social behavior.

Based on a previous thread that got locked down and from posts in this thread, I'm wondering who exactly is carrying on these 'protracted vendettas on the internet.'

It is Christmas. A season, which at its religous heart and core is all about forgiveness, and not giving, receiving, Santa, holly, cards, carols, etc. . .
Forgiveness. Think about it everyone: including those about to leave. Leaving won't help you, but forgiving will - even in the person you have to forgive doesn't ask for it.
A little food for thought.

At this point Raid's post count has dropped by over 1,000. That's a LOT of time invested to remove all his previous contributions to the community. Very unfortunate and it didn't have to happen at all....but what can you do when stubborn people refuse to budge?

The best camera is one that still works!
Well ... I just turned my compute off grabbed two cameras and went for a walk to see what I could find to photograph ... now I'm heading off to my darkroom to see what disasters I captured.
I recommend it as an internet angst therapy for frustrated over stimulated photogs!
Catch you all later!

OK, just plain 'stubborn.'

I'm sure you aren't the only one that is imploring Raid to stay.

i have never tried but cant you delete your own membership here (just wondering is all, not suggesting you should). once a member, a member for life, unless your eliminated
at any rate raid dont cancel, just turn off the poota for a day or so. hopefully it will all seem to not matter in a day or so.....or come hang out down in the 120 Folders section, we rarely get philosophical down there
and stop deleting posts---your post count will look as eneamic as mine soon!
Heh, now that Pitxu has deleted his post, my post has no context.
I'm with Fred on this one.

Raid sent me his email address this morning stating he might leave. I didn't believe him but I guess he is leaving. We have lost another good RFF'er. As far as I'm concerned we have lost one of the best. Barak Obama ran on a campain promise "Change we can believe in" We need a change here at RFF. I have seen too many good people leave or get banned for silly reasons. I don't know who all the culprits are but we need change.

change is a constant on most forums.
people come and go.
i have been here since the beginning and there is a pattern to it.
there are periods of peace and periods of turmoil. no one thing seems to be the stimulus for it. we come here for various reasons and leave for much the same.
i have seen these theatrics before from others. i used to miss them after they left (most of them anyway) but i no longer take any of it personally. we do what we do and if someone chooses to stay or leave, rant or pout, delete threads or just go quietly, then that is a choice to be made.
the drama will fade.

I feel sad that Raid won't be around. I really appreciated his contributions and I'll definitely miss his presence here.

'yes we can'
Ultimately an unnecessary sequence of events. OK, so Raid makes a comment that conflicts with his posts in another forum, but was there any harm done? I mean, anyone who wants to be a member just has to register. The bar is pretty low.
No harm, no foul, yet self-disqualification.
But life goes on, the forum goes on, as Joe said.

Well, Joe, that just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Perhaps you've spent too much time wearing a badge.

We should all get some sleep and resume this when we're rested. Keith, I know it's mid day in Australia. Take a nap at least. After your walk of course.
OK I understand that Raid got himself caught crosswise. But was there any real harm done to anyone by this? Not saying there wasn't, I just want to know what harm was done, if any.
It wasn't Raid posting derogatory comments about you in the other forum, or was it?

The drama comes from the fact that this happened in a kind of 180 degree twist. It happened on the crest of a wave of generosity sweeping through RFF, making us feel that it really is a community and something to be proud of. Then there was the hesitation that we were being watched and perhaps judged from outside, and that one of the core members might even unwittingly or worse yet intentionally be hob-nobbing with the enemy, sowing envy and jealousy. I've seen this happen more than once on the internet forums. Usually what happens afterward is that people start washing their hands, engage in recriminations or mea culpas, and eventually the general cynicism is only reinforced.
Raid's departure is a done thing. I sent him a PM expressing my grief. I think each of us needs to respond, and respond privately to Raid directly (or Joe or Pitxu or me or whomever).
BUT FOR THOSE OF US WHO ARE STAYING: let's try to focus (we're photographers, right!). May we NOT engage in explanations and justifications and recriminations, etc. C'mon folks, the only reason we close down the aperture is in order to get a DOF that allows us to digest everything in sight...
I suggest, concretely:
1) amnesty. total. unconditional.
2) generosity. total. unconditional. sheesh. we've already done that. let's not get cynical. reopen THE thread. ADD a few rules. state clearly a closing date.
3) photograph, scan (upload) and share. total. unconditional.

This is certainly change I can believe in. I do believe jumping to another forum wasn't right. We are family over here. Our givaways should stay in house. Joe was right calling Raid on it. One thing I have learned is that when you leave somewhere after a while you usually regret it.

this is getting ridiculous. plenty of us don't like each other, but is it worth all this? pitxu's thread was a nice gesture that turned into a really cool thread which brought out the nice side of a lot of us and it's a shame it's descended into this. this is why i never really participated in forums until finding RFF.
and if other forums are talking **** about us, why is that a surprise to anyone? some of the gear many of us have in our camera bags could buy a car, so why would we be surprised that others think we're rich or snobby? some of us are rich and/or snobby. who cares? let it go.
i hope the thread is reopened and maybe has some boundaries set.

ps--i forgot to add this, but the first thing i listed in that thread was spoken for by someone who gave me a LOT of **** for buying a black paint M3 last year cheaply. for what it's worth, it never occurred to me to refuse sending him the item. i decided that i put it out there for whoever needed it and didn't want to bring any past judgments into it. if that's not community, i don't know what is.
