Best M type camera ?
We all know the correct answer right?
"MINE!!!!"
I agree!! I have Leicas but I am getting more curious about a Zeiss Ikon.

The best is the one not on the list, the M6J.
Not that I own one...
A ZI over a M7 any day. But mechanical non-battery dependent cameras have more charm IMO.
Best way it to have both types I suppose.

the great
i prefer the M6 TTL for its shutter speed dial which goes the right way for my brain and unlike the M7 it is not "battery depended"

The M3... Somehow Leica got the view finder right.
I have tried the newer ones and had a loan of an M6 TTL for about 6 weeks.
Still I find my M3 viewfinder is the best and brightest.

My ZI is great, my only irk is the 85mm frame lines, so much more choice of 75mm or 90mm lenses. I know it does not make much difference, but it's a personal gripe.
But of course it really depends on what you're doing, I think the Bessa R4M/A is a very special camera if you like wides (and I do).

良かったね!
The best "M type" camera is the Zeiss Ikon. It is like a Leica M, only better.
"I'd Leica better camera, so I got a Zeiss Ikon."
That's funny. I kon't get a cheap Leica M6, so I have a Hexar.

Now all we Hexen-folk need is a smart-n-snarky riposte of our own...
(Sorry, haven't come up with one just yet.)

I have an M6 and I think I like the NikonFM3a better. it is more versatile.

While I have a nice silver M4 I keep hearing the siren song of the M6. Not as a replacement, of course.

My M3...
I keep going back to it. I've never doubted the loading of film in that camera.
Yes it's slow but it works first time every time.
My M4-P is OK but somehow it's "different"... You have to make sure the film is absolutely in the sprockets before you close it.
With my M3 that happens almost automatically because the film is under that tab in the take up spool. It doesn't move once it's in there.
I wonder if Leica will ever bring out a new film M as good as the original M3
