My Rx100 still serves this purpose for me. I'd love a GR-type portable with a 35/40mm FOV equivalent though.

My Olympus XA2 gets my vote. The scale focus is quicker then the XA. Clamshell design to protect everything, and cheap enough so you don't care if you leave it at a bar.

Seriously though, I too would get the Sony RX100, esp. if IQ was the top consideration, and cost and pocketability were secondary.

Jacket pocket? ..... look at the Panasonic LX series.
For certain, a used LX3 will not cost you a lot of cash and it makes wonderful pictures.

i miss my rx100...and really liked my lx...can't remember which lx i had, a 2 or a 3...

The Rx100 is thrown in my man-purse "just in case".

On that note - & I might have mentioned it here before - I'm very satisfied w/ 8"x8" prints from my iphone 5.

My wife's iphone 6 focuses faster than my RX100 & is pretty decent picture taker.

One handed if bright out.... with hand manipulation somewhat similar to Spock's death hold.

Two if not... just like any other point & shoot, but I use my thumb to trigger the shutter.
