I've never seen a Nikkor with paint like that, even the black ones. Has to be a repaint. Crazy Serial Number!

yes, the paint on the lens does look different, much different to the black ,on the Nikon S mount Nikkors.
Wow, I have a Tower Type 3 (Nicca IIIa) which I will sell for much less than that. Mine has recently been CLA'd.

I think that is one of those cameras that would have looked better in the original finish. As I sit here pondering stripping the leather off of my Anny Speed Graphic and finishing the mahogony underneith it's a good lesson on why _not_ to do it.
