Actually, I find this forum quite helpful and interesting. Personally, I don`t care much if somebody needs to tape his Leica, uses a black-paint Leica MP or prefers shooting with or without meter.... 🙂
If you want "cliquey", try the LUG! Actually, I find RFF less hostile/ negative/ more friendly, but often more trivial, than most 'net forums.

I think that Pablito says most of it actually. Most of the dumb (to me anyway) questions that seem to repeat over and over but I just skip reading them so that it doesn't annoy.
The thing I dislike most is the opinions expressed by some on a piece of kit, who obviously either a/ haven't used it or b/ are blinded by the leica light! It happened last week when someone stated that an Ultron was way inferior to a 'cron v.4. Total b@@l@cks and will no doubt put someone off of buying a fantastic bit of kit. I wish people would offer opinion based on use and real experience rather than fantasy and maybe a need to justify that the money they spent actually delivered better results and made them a better photog by buying x brand. Through this site I've learnt a lot about RF and photography in general. I pick up pointers to a certain lens but then in the end try it for myself before offering any advice to others. rant over.
Joe, which version of the BS-O-Meter do you recommend? V1 or V2?
I can't believe you'd mention V1 and V2 in the same sentence! Anyone who uses V1 after V2 came out is a fool.

I'm more bothered about people going on and on about how much money gear costs, extrapolating what others can/can't afford, and always assuming that the most expensive gear is necessarily the best.
Would like to have more photo threads, too. And in particular see more photos of the few posters that are very verbal but rarely show results.

Sigh...the things I end up doing when my FTP is large...
The moment you look away from this screen...that's right, the one *you* are looking at right now, you are open to far more possibilities in life. You can actually photograph things that are not a computer screen for starters.
So one of the most ironic things to me about online photo communities is that they are in some ways the most contrary occurence to photography, for they surely prevent it from happening.
I'm sure the number of great life experiences let alone photographs that are not experienced due to the internet is staggering....
it does help keep the cabin fever in check for us northerners that have 9 months of winter...

Compared with most of what i confront via the Internets, "just" 50% would be something of an achievement!I think it hovers somewhere around the 50% mark 😀
Good luck Phil! - but you'll be back.....even Ruben could not resist for too long! 😀.......but seriously - it's a good idea! - and now that spring is here, and sensibility of posts has reached an all time low - I think I'll join you! 🙂Whilst I find this somewhat odd from someone with 609 posts, I can't argue with the veracity of the statements regarding time spent on the internet vs actually doing the things I like about photography - taking, developing, editing and looking at pictures. It has been something that I have felt for some time, and spending time on the forum in some ways seems to have taken away from that. No implied criticism of anyone, this is just me.
Therefore, I'll wish you all well and good luck and success in your photography, and in your lives.
Goodbye.
