Buy Leica M-E late 2015?

That one isn't new Mabelsound. It is used and only $150 below the price pointed out by the OP for a new one.

3.3K..usd..is dirt cheap..for an M-E..
Tell me where I can get that price..and I'll be a happy M-E owner..

Yes fantastic price :)

No the camera is not out of date. It has all the features of the latest M262, but is smaller, 15 grams lighter, and makes nicer files OOC.

Not quite as good at high ISO, is all.

Also the 18mp files will not clog your computer. :)

For the right price, I would absolutely buy the ME. It's a wonderful camera, with gorgeous feel. Superb colors.

I would also consider getting a used one, for less. The only thing that could really break is the sensor and that'll be replaced free for you.

With great regret, I will be selling my ME next week, since my wife got me a new M-P. I will miss it.

Hi,

I hope you've still got your old lenses and won't be needing any more; or perhaps I should say won't be thinking of buying more even if you don't really need them...

Regards, David

Smaller? I don't think so.

Source Tech Data sheets from Leica website.

M262 (L × H × D) Approx. 138,6× 42 × 80 mm

M220 (ME) (W x D x H) approx. 139 x 37 x 80 mm

So the M262 is slightly shorter but also thicker by 5mm most likely due to the larger battery.

I bought a new M-E a few months ago from a German dealer and used it extensively during the past summer. I am happy handling the camera and happy with the photos which have a special look similar to photos taken with the digitally ancient Epson R-D1. US 3,300 is a very good price.

I think the main reason to buy an M-E right now is if you specifically like the way a CCD sensor renders light. Some of us do, so the M-E (M9, M9P) are wise purchases for us. If you are just looking for a digital rangefinder, there might be better options out there as far as price and features are concerned.

Best,
-Tim

No, those 5 mm are simply the thumbrest that is included. The bodies are within 0.5 mm of one another. The data sheet is a triumph of technical exactness over common sense.
This has been done to death in the forums when the 240 came out.

I have an X100 and assuming the 100T works the same why can't you set the Aperture to F8 or so and set the shutter speed manually and go to manual focus then and use the thing like a zone focus. You don't have to use auto focus at all. Given the excellent scale in the VF zone focus would be a snap. (pun intended)

The ME uses the M9 case correct?

The M262 uses the M240 case correct?

If those statements are right, then yes the ME is smaller than the M262.

You of all people would know that, but maybe I missing something?

138 x 80 x 37 millimeters (M9/ME) vs 139 x 42 x 80mm (240/262)

And please, as a real dentist, don't tell us those differences are insignificant :)

The difference is insignificant. A professional can tell the relevance of a tolerance. The only difference between the cases is the position of the tripod bush. So I made an extra hole and use the same case for both. 0.5 mm difference in thickness. So yes, it is lighter (15 grams) and thinner (0.5 mm), but only those who suffer from the Princess on the Pea Syndrome will notice.

Yes, I agree, in the US the M-E is $4800 new. I almost bought a used one from Tamarkin last week for $3300 but went for an M-9P instead. That seems like a good price.

I bought my M-E new in April 2015 for $4200, so $3300 today is an outstanding price.

Other than high ISO performance, there is nothing really not to like with the M-E.

In other words it's smaller and lighter than 262 and quite a bit lighter than 240. But you cannot admit you were incorrect and must resort to insult :)

I guess anyone who likes some lenses that are just a bit better than others also suffers from your Princess on the Pea Syndrome ;)

Specs are specs and why not reSpect? Many people notice the size and weight difference between the M9 and M240. Because it doesn't matter to you, they are all suffering from a syndrome?

There is another syndrome I see in manufacturers reps very often: "what I'm selling is the best." :)

Does the M-E have the new M240 LCD screen or the god awful one from the M9?
