I can't seem to find it anywhere on Kodak's website, and even my local photo store is having trouble stocking it.

Just wondering if you guys have heard anything about it.

This is now the only black and white film my local Kodak One Hour stocks ... but at $12.00 per roll god knows how he sells any!

I just checked the prices here in NZ.... BW400CN 36 exposure $10.00 and Ilford XP2 36 exposure $17.00
Good old Tri-X 36 exposure $8.00 a roll
Personally i would be happy just to have a local photo store that carries a reasonable range of film.

Which is why the Aussies band together and order from B&H, something i might have to consider as the evil digital plague covers this otherwise green and pleasant land.

A friend just sent me 5 rolls of BW400CN 120 and 17 rolls of XP-2 Super 120 she's not going to use. These are my favorite films. I hope they stay around but I presume that even if they die out a good lab that processes C-41 will still support it. I purchase 35mm BW400CN from Walgreens also. Good for them.

I've been a steady XP2 user for a number of years until supply got spotty for a while (when Ilford was changing hands vis-a-vis Harman Technology), and I started using BW400CN, which I've actually come to prefer just a bit. The fact that, here in New York, the per-roll price is exactly $1 cheaper than XP2 ($4.29/roll...can't believe what you guys in Oz are paying! 🙁) doesn't hurt either.

I do believe Rochester got blindsided by a run on purchases recently, and were slow on the uptake filling the pipeline. Given their desire for squeaky-tight JIT inventory these days, this seems to happen a bit more often than in the past. I usually buy the stuff two bricks at a time, minimum, as a result.

Edit: Looks like BW400CN jumped a bit in price lately, by about 50 cents; XP2, however, has jumped commensurably.

Hmm...that's pretty weird. I see 400cn in the products page but not on the online kodak store.

Dogbunny, thanks on the tip with Ilford XP2 Super. I will certainly look into it.

I've been buying BW400CN at my local WalMart for the past couple of years -- ever since I discovered the stuff. It comes in a three-roll pack. Don't recall the price, since it's been a while, but it was priced very economically.

I too like BW400CN. Very fine grain, very good tonal range. And I'm guessing, if it's one of the meager selection of films left at WalMart, that it must be selling well enough to keep it on the shelves -- or else WalMart wouldn't.

I guess the only thing I don't really like about it is it's rather tedious to develop at home, whereas Tri-X is falling-off-a-log easy.

Give us a shout if you want to do a bulk order, I've just made a big order from Macodirect but you can never have enough film and paper in the freezer!

Also, Ilford makes XP2 Super, which is color process b&w.

The Ilford chromogenic B&W film has the advantage (for us) of being on a clear base, while Kodak BW400CN is on orange acetate, just like color film. This is so that 1-hour prints will print with the same settings as do color pictures.

However the orange base makes them almost impossible to print in a darkroom, and somewhat problematic to scan.

That said, I do prefer the look of the Kodak film, but Ilford's isn't that far off.

I just bought 6 rolls of the Kodak off B&H's web site at $4.00 a roll and saved $25

Couple of Toronto stores I checked wanted $8.99 a roll + 13% tax

Hi mate, what did you order from them? I had a quick look at the site but it was a guy look !
Any really good deals?
I got a few hundred sheets of paper (Foma paper is cheap there), another 100ft roll of Efke KB25, some Rodinal, and a big order of C41 developer. Along with a few random 120 films to try out.

Oh they have bulk loading cartridges and knock-off Paterson reels really cheap too. Got a few more of those.

Their best deals are on Rollei/Maco films and the niche manufacturers like Efke and Foma.

My first order went very quickly but this one seems to be sitting around for ages as "in process". I assume they're backordering things -- I just wish they'd let me know so I know how long to expect!

For C-41 B&W I prefer the XP2, but overall I would rather shoot real B&W film, and simply develop it myself.

Something I found with the C-41 B&W is that I could never be sure what colour it was going to come out. One roll came back tinted purple! :bang:
