Camera and Coffee

Todd,
Nice use of the table inlay for graphic composition. I love those Yashica Electros, especially those sexy black ones 😉

Joe,
Thanks, I've been wondering how to do that myself 🙂
I've been going through some "ancient family albums and love this pic of my father, age about 2, from 1921.

Here is the new R2 with a tall iced latte, at my usual hangout.

Added my avatar too. I had this one loaded on Photo.Net. Seemed appropraite, even though I've never been in jail 😀

I'll be writing Henry Scherer later today, I'll ask if he has a spare if you'd like. Shame to have that missing on such a nice finder.
Indeed! And thanks, that would be great. RFF member Wayne Scott might also be interested in one, as his finder is missing it too.

I bought this finder in Seattle long ago to help me see what a 21mm view of the world looked like. I was trying to decide if I really wanted to spend all that money on a Super Angulon 21 for my M2. As it turned out, I never did, so the finder is sort of an orphan. Should probably sell it on eBay for a huge profit, and then buy a Voigtlander Skopar 21/4 and its finder with the proceeds!

Niceee... Is it a 'real' Contax or a 'Contax copy'?

I doubt that anyone tried to copy the Contax I, so I think it must be real. The Ukrainian Kievs take the later Contax II as their point of departure.

Love the looks of the Contax I. Unique.

Another new member arrived in the mail today. I was drinking ice tea, but it has caffeine 😀

Is it just me, or does anyone else see the resemblance of the Argus C3 to the Contax I? By this I mean "Styled After" in terms of the general look of the camera, ie the focus wheel and the general "brick" shape. Did the Argus designers look at the luxury camera of the day and make a "people's version" out of Bakelite to resemble it?

Interesting hypothesis. You may be on to something. Both cameras definitely have the "brick" shape and styling.

Hey, hey! there's no camera that resembles a brick better than a TLR. This contax is just...a little brick! A quarter-brick, maybe!

Thanks, Honu. I thought about the film advance possibility myself, but then I said, why the hell would they complicate it soooo much. I mean, they had to turn the axis of rotation with 90 degrees! That's weird.
