The Best Way to Get a Guinness Glass:
1: On tuesday evening, go with some friends to a small local Irish pub with nice red-haired waitresses.
2: Consume several pints of Guinness (you can mix it with Kilkenny and make it settle with a few Jamesons or Bushmills).
3: Chitchat with the waitress of your personal choice (but don't exaggerate- remember that she is working).
4: Do this every week for at least half a year.
5: Sooner or later you will get free guinness glasses.

I have owned at least one Canonet continuously over most of the past 30 years. The shutter release is the softest of any of the fixed-lens/trap-needle automatic cameras around.

And for Guinness: Never drink more than 10 Guinnesses in one trip to the Four Provinces of Ireland on St Patricks Day without wanting to know how many holes are in the ceiling tiles. Never sit at the bar next to people who have had as many, who have not run out of money, and NEVER continuously swap your half full glass with their full glass. Never do these things. Sometimes I will never figure out how I got past 25.

I think both. (I'm bragging, I only got through 14 Guinness' Top, but I kept them down)

And a really great way to get total strangers to buy you pints of Guinness is to talk the girl dancing on the table into going home with them. That accounts for pint 12 and is less risky than swapping glasses. Even if they are not dancing on the table, they will still buy you a pint.

OK, so the attached pic does not show coffee. But hey, it's past 11 at night, and I need the beer as I contemplate the possible stupidity of my latest purchase.
I was merely wondering about this lens, until yesterday my bonus came through; then the logic went something like "At the moment you are lucky enough to be earning good money. This probably will not last! Buy things NOW while you can afford it!!!"
Ladies & Gentlemen, I present for your possible amusement the latest result of my severe, unrestricted, and so far untreatable Lens Acquisition Syndrome......
My M6 is now wearing a current model Tri-Elmar, c/w with B&W UV filter and vented hood ..........
Skulking off to the left on my crowded desk are the CV 21/4, 28/3.5, 90/3.5, and a Summicron 35/2.

I'm not sure whether to feel happy or sick about this one. :bang:

If there is a Vietnamese community in your area, you will likely find Cafe Du Monde for closer to $6 without having to pay shipping. It is a favorite with many Vietnamese. Personally, I prefer other brands, although I often mix them with Cafe Du Monde. It isn't all that bad, really.

A must have for the Sainted Day - LOL.

First it was Akalai sending me Contax auctions, now the Guiness glasses -- I'll never make this break from eBay!!! 😀 😀 😀 OK, off I go to find essential beer glasses...hope I don't stumble across anything Contax or Alpa while I'm there 😉

I am in the midst of a very diverse community, but largely Phillipino and Vietnamese. I will have to look in the local Viet market. I did notice one day at a local pho restaurant that fresh chicory is offered with their beef stew.

I dig Vietnamese coffee, maybe a shot of my FED3 with a nice Viet iced coffee will make the grade.

Yeah, I mix my French Market with some nice Columbian roast I found at Smart and Final.

Doug, I'm hoping it will be VERY useful for a lot of what I do. I do a fair bit of wilderness photography; usually for that f4 isn't a hardship, but swapping lenses all the time is.....
The Tri is a bulky lens by rangefinder standards, but the camera and lens is still fairly compact.

1. On Thursday evening, go with some friends to a small local Irish pub with a nice black-haired waitress.
2. Consume several pints of Guinness (you can mix it with an occasional shot of Whiskey).
3. Chitchat with the waitress/bartender.
4. Do this every week for a year.
5. Sooner or later you will get free Guinness glasses. If you are lucky, they will be special "Great Guinness Toast" glasses.

But most important, remember that it's the journey, not the destination.

Here's how I got mine:
let friends drag you into cheesy tourist-strip pseudo-Irish megasize pub, feel really pissed off about the lame service, inflated prices and cheesy decorations, drink a few (overprized) Guiness, and get back at them by smuggling out glasses in girlfriend's handbag (lame service is so non-observant they never noticed...).
