Yes, it just arrived... a lovely multiple-scratched and used looking double-stroke M3 with a Cron and I did not even take the time to refill my cup with Latte Macchiato to share my joy with all of you
New to the Leica M series I have only one (maybe stupid) question left:
- What is the small lever in the upper left for? "R" like "Rewind"?
The next step is a wellness trip to Solms for CLA and check if everything is working or if I have to make use of the given guarantee.
First impression of the shutter: Wow it is really less noisy than my Bessa

Congratulations on the M3!
The lever is the "R"ewind lever. Yours is an earlier M3 without the "preview" lever. Also look at the pressure plate. It may be Glass. If it metal, it was replaced. The Vulcanite looks in great shape!

Picture of my Mir, its almost like a Leica.. ...
got it yesterday, its on its first roll of film but it looks like its in great shape. I think the fact that it was painted black is a good thing because along the way it was probably cleaned too. From what insides I can see that looks to be the case.

The Adiction Grows!
A couple of new family members to show. This forum is causing me to lose control of my senses, and this thread is the worst. So many nice cameras and so little time, even caused me to break from the rut of interchangeable lens cameras to buy a Canonete QL17.
Both from eBay, the Canon VI-L seller said It was a bit cloudy in the viewfinder and had some minor residue on the first curtain, but fully functional. He was correct so I need to find a way to clean the viewfinder for real happiness. The QL17 seller said everything seemed OK, even the meter, but the battery check light would not come on with his "old" battery. Works fine with my battery, but needed a quick viewfinder cleaning, (thanks to Brian Sweeney for the instructions), all is fine now.
Here they are and how about those fancy pants on the VI-L?
Regards, Paul C.

Lovely camera, Andy, For non-coffee drinkers the usual practice is to include the Scotch bottle or Guinness can in the photo
Thank you for posting the picture, it is a beauty!
Indeed, Doug; it even appears to have matching orange filters on the lens and viewfinder!

That is most impressive, isn't it? Where do you find items like that?Doug said:Indeed, Doug; it even appears to have matching orange filters on the lens and viewfinder!

Leica IIIC, Cosina Voigtlander 25mm F4 Snapshot Skopar Lens with Voigtlander 25mm Viewfinder, Leica OKARO Orange filter to improve focus contrast, B+W MRC Orange lens filter, Voigtlander VC Light Meter, Voigtlander Double Accessory Shoe Type A and a Leica M6 TTL camera strap.
The camera was an auction-Bay purchase for $225, The OKARO was purchased from an individule on Photonet, the Voigtlander gear all came from CAMERQUEST, the Lense filter was a B&H purchase and I stole the strap off of one of my M6 TTL.
The amazing thing is that is is capable of actually taking photographs. (Refer to the attached thumbnail)
