Camera and Coffee

phew that's really huge. Never seen it live, nor on a shot where there is something to compare it to.
The good old days of pocketable medium format are gone.

Ah, the good old days of pocketable medium format......

It has a well-done three-letter engraving on the top. The legend says [i.e. the former owner], that it was property of a portrait- and wedding photography company. It certainly has seen lots of use, and it stinks like tobacco and something else. The leather is worn badly, especially on the front.

On its back, there are a few huge zeiss bumps. One of them is so big, that it 'exploded' already, and dark greenish stuff is slowly coming out through it. It looks very much like a pimple on a teenager's face - although this fellow is far from being a teenager.

The Kiev 4 has company thus. They got acquainted by interchanging lenses...the opton sonnar 50/2 came with the contax, the cz sonnar 50/1.5 i bought earlier separately and used on the kiev.
Here they are, shining in the faint gray light of a cloudy december day...
Sorry for the dirty window.

Try putting it in a small box with some dryer sheets. That worked for me when one the cats peed on a spare camera bag. If it'll get out the smell of cat urine, it'll work on anything! ;)

You call - we play :D
Here a quick shot with the barndoor hood.

Cheers

I think my 35mm kit is now complete bodywise. I've been using the J12 on the Leica IIIc and I'm becoming a 35mm convert after shooting only normal lenses most of my life. I also have a J8 and I-50 for the IIIc and will someday CLA my Summitar. I'm setting up the 85mm J9 on the red FED2. I still need to do some more rangefinder adjustment. The Pentax H1a I got from dexdog (Thanks!). It came with 55/2 and 35/3.5 Super Takumars. I will be looking for a macro and a long lens for the Pentax. In front is my new Weston Master V. Not a single battery needed.

And somedays you just need a strong cup of coffee.

I got a Canon 50/1.8 lens in todays mail from Brian Sweeney. Looks to be a really sweet lens. Unfortunately the weather here today is bletcherous at best, so instead I puttered around with the recently rescued Kodak DC3400 and got a semi-decent C&C of my IVSb with the new to me lens on it.

A recent arrival: 4.25cm Biotar and 4cm Turret finder on a II. To the left a 1961 IIa with a 25mm f/4 Topogon and 25mm Turret finder, and to the right an early model I with a 50/3.5 Tessar. The coffee is warmed up and leftover -- the espresso maker bit the dust yesterday morning (overuse? :)).
