Can I see your best Street shot?

Not a great photo, but one of my favorites from several years ago ... just a fun moment. I liked the smile, the flags and that big, long, shiny hood and grill. It's hard to get more *street* than parade-action.

Damned if I know why everyone calls these "street shots." Isn't it simply photography out in the world, as opposed to the studio or my kitchen table? Is it so weird people want to leave the house and look around them with a camera once in a while? Does it have to be a phony genre?

Well most of these ARE on a city street, as opposed to somewhere in the forest.

I think "street shot" tends to imply photographs of people, which are difficult to capture unposed. So, I think it is worth a special name.

Why do artists practice "figure drawing" as opposed to plain old "drawing"?

This is a great thread with lots of really good shots. I'm not sure calling every photo in a 20+ page thread "phony" is the most welcome critique. Feel free to share your own favorite "simply photography out in the world" shot and call it whatever you want.

Don't whine...post!

Hey, I wasn't denigrating the photos, just the need for people to give it a dumb name. I shoot them, too.

1970's. I put the camera down for like, what? 20 years.
But here's a few new ones. Trust me, it's harder than I remember.
