I could suggest Thunder Bay as a cental location for a Canadian get together. More info here http://www.thunderbay.ca/ . There is plenty in the way of nature here but that may not be what most RFers want to photgraph.

It's Toronto, isn't it? :)

Didn't Queen Vicky decide Ottawa-Hull was the epicentre of Canada?

(Except for the weeks I spend visiting Toronto... and the years living in Montreal... and growing up on the SE shore of Lake Huron... I am inclined to agree with Queen Vicky.)

Oh, that's just a snooty monarchist attitude - just you wait for the revolution! :)

I'll throw in my vote for Montreal - I lived there for a few years and it's a great city for three things:

1. Beer
2. Women
3. Photo Ops

Actually, looking at that I can replace it with an equation (a nod to you Frank):

3 Beer + 2 women = 1 great Photo Op

Oh wait, that math only works after the three beers.

Most people born after 73/74... had to learn that new Math... maybe that's why beer needs to be part of the equasion. *laughs*

Montreal is a good place to go for Shutterbugging excursions... I just moved to Ottawa *frowns* from Montreal in November '05... after living there for 2+ years... returning there for a RFF meetup is doable. How come no one ever suggests somewhere along the Great Lakes, i.e. Ontario/Erie/Huron... like Niagara, Goderich, Erieau for instance?

Winnipeg is the geographical center of Canada, and the capitol of the colony was moved from Bytown (Toronto) to Ottawa so that the Americans couldn't find it if they invaded again. lol

Remember to calculate the "person miles/kms" that will be travelled when figuring out the location! :)

of course, we could also calculate the person number/enjoyment factor of more folks getting to see a part of canada that they maybe have not explored before.

I can DEFINITELY go for Niagara, and not just due to proximity. Wineries, you know! ;-) Huron/Georgian Bay would be delish, espcially Bruce Peninsula. There are lots of basic cottage rentals/camping venues that could accommodate with proper planning. Photo ops? Oh yes.

Stratford ON might be nice for a fall trip.....

And as a former Stratfordite, that would be just ducky with me. Starting with Bentley's, lots of good venues for focusing fluid, but Fall is problematic because the festival playbill isn't finished until early November, I think. So, there would be tourist crowds until then, though before then but after Thanksgiving wouldn't be as bad.

How about Manitoulin Island?

You guys really have the formula for good photo ops backwards.

The more beer, the lower quality of the women and photoshoot. However, if the women are drinking the beer, then your ops go up.

Personally, I like:

3 beers (me) + 2 women (lots of beer them) = great party and photos. :D

That's why Ottawa works so well... it's right on the border... so lots of Quebec - the parts that truly count *snicker* - can be taken in, as well.
