Here I am in Brockville. I'll be in Montreal by 12:40! On the very slight chance that one of the Montreal group is checking in here, what are you guys doing for lunch?

Good morning lads and ladies!

Yesterday was a big day, and it was a lot of fun. We did the Marché Jean-Talon, had beers and watched the Ottawa game (GO SENS!) at Hurley's on Crescent, and then walked through Vieux Montréal, which was packed with tourists and good photo ops. We split up around 8pm to take a short break, and then a few of us went out to Passeport, where Marc works. I left at about 1am, and Frank and Guy were still going strong... I hope they made it back to the hostel!

This morning we're meeting at Lionel-Groulx to shoot Marché Atwater and some of the Canal Lachine, and then afterwards we're doing the model shoot in St-Henri. After the model shoot, there's no plan. It depends a bit on what people are interested in seeing, I guess. This evening, if everyone is in accord, we'll go to the Claremont Cafe for a nice meal, and then tonight, Frank insists that we go out again. Who am I to say "no"? ;)

And finally, a quick wrap-up of attendees, in no particular order:
- Myself
- Marc Jutras
- John (emraphoto)
- Guy (grainhound)
- Frank (FrankS)
- Nancy (somecanuckchick)
- Hub
- Dave (dcsang)
- Rob Skeoch

Survived day one. Guy and I are having breakfast at the hostel Sunday morning after a full day Saturday, which for me began with the "rescue from the train station". Did lots of stuff and lots of walking and shooting quaint cafe street corners, street performers, etc. Watched the Ottawa/Buffalo hiockey game at a pub (this is Canada,eh), Rob S, Guy and I ate dinner in China Town, then got ready to visit Marc's bar where we spent the wee hours before cabbing back to the hostel because the subway stops operation at 1:30. We're feeling a little fuzzy this morning. :)

Yeah, I forgot to mention that the Métro doesn't run all night. Sorry! We caught the last train on the green line last night, and it was about that time when I realised I should have mentioned something to you...

Good morning everyone. The weekend was a great time, and I think everyone was very happy with the result.

Two very special thank-yous go out to Tom & Tuulikki Abrahamsson of RapidWinder, and Mike Boylan at Blazes Photographic (888-561-0906) for their generous gift donations. The following awesome swag was handed out to the members: :D
  1. 8x Soft release and 8x mini soft release - everyone got at least one!
  2. 3 pairs of Rollei 400 scan film in 135x36 - Guy (grainhound), Dave (dcsang), and Nancy (somecanuckchick)
  3. 2x triplet of Rollei 400 scan film in 120 - Guy and BJ Bignell
  4. Trial box of Rollei Retro 100 and 400 films with developer - Marc Jutras
  5. Trial box of Rollei R3 films with developer - BJ Bignell
  6. The "Ted Grant" Rapidwinder Classic - Frank (FrankS)

I want to thank everyone who came to shoot film and to shoot the breeze; it was a pleasure to meet all of you and I hope we'll see each other again soon. Thanks very much to Marc for helping with the planning and for organising yesterday's model shoot, and thanks to Kyo, Jenny, and Anne for being so beautiful!

I hope that we'll soon meet each other again, whether it's here in Montreal or just down the highway in that other big city... what's it's name again? ;)

À la prochaine!
BJ

P.S. I also wanted to personally thank Frank and Marc for giving me some film for the model shoot. Big surprise that I forgot to go buy some before the weekend...

A HUGE thankyou to BJ for being such a wonderful host/organizer/facilitator for this weekend in Montreal. It was truly a fantastic weekend!!!

Also a HUGE thankyou to Marc for supplying terrific and experienced models for our model shoot on Sunday! Just wait till you see the results! Oh-la-la! (Rover, I'm not sure your heart could have taken it.) Marc was also a generous and entertaining host at the club he works at: Le Passeport. It was the first Goth bar I've been to and it almost made me wish that I was 20 again. (Marc is living the "life of Riley"!) We ended up here on both Saturday and Sunday nights. Guy had a good time here too.

Special thanks to BJ's lovely significant other Jo, who not only gave BJ some time off from his domestic duties, she also discovered the amazing location we used for the model shoot. Many thanks!

Thank you too, to Tom Abrahamson and Mike Boylan for donating photo items for a draw held among the participants of this gathering, on Sunday evening during dinner.

Last but not least, thanks to Nancy who actually won the rapidwinder and did the right thing by giving it to me instead of Dave. :)

This was an extraordinary gathering of friends, some old and some new, made possible by the fine folks listed above and by this rather extraordinary site! I'm sure more such events will take place in the future and I strongly recommend attendence for those who are able. If they only turn out half as good as this Montreal in May meeting, you won't be disappointed.

I am glad to hear the weekend was a success. I wish I was there, but I will find my way north sooner than later.

Dave has an amazing picture of one of the models (actually he has lots as he was shooting a dSLR) that will knock you down it is so stunning! Nancy has some behind the scenes, shooting the shooters digi-pics. I hope they post soon.

I had a great time :) but it's time to dry out now - models were fun, walking around with everyone was cool too.

BJ and Marc were excellent hosts - and Frank and Guy went to a GOTH CLUB !!! :D

It was a great weekend, just have to chill out now and cut back on the drinking :)

Thanks again to BJ and Marc!!
The U.S. and West Coast (west of London that is) folks should try to get out to one of the Toronto ones. Maybe we can look at Mid July ???

Cheers
Dave

Cut back? No, no, no, no...

I dunno how it works in Ontario, but here in Montréal we drink like that all the time. :D

Well, here I am on the train (sober) heading back home to the GTA with Dave sitting beside me (also sober).

When's our next get together?
