Canon P exposure problem half frame

I have a new-to-me Canon P, and I am asking your advice. The camera looks clean and I thought it was operating properly—sounds smooth and good at all speeds. When I was printing negatives I had to burn in the left side of my first print by about a half stop. When the same problem turned up on the second print, I realized the new P has some problem with the shutter, overexposing one side of the frame relative to the other. The dividing line is vertical, set almost exactly in the middle.😕

That's another new one on me. Does this sound like a problem that a CLA will fix, hopefully? Thanks.

I have been told this is called "tapering" and that a CLA will fix this.

Same with an old Fed 2 I have. Fixed, but only after being sent out twice.

Another term used is "capping," which us when one shutter curtain overtakes the other. Pretty easy fix actually. You can do it yourself if you have the right tools.
