[FONT=arial,sans-serif]I have a QL17 that doesn't shutter release after I cock the lever. I press the shutter release all the way down but nothing. I noticed also that the self timer is stuck all the way to the right. where if you pressed the shutter release it should start winding down but doesn't move. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Thanks in advance...

As the shutter release goes all the way down, I am assuming it is not the interlock mechanism that prevents the camera from firing on Automatic. Just to be sure that mechanism is not the problem, turn the aperture to MANUAL like at F5.6 and try shooting on 125th shutter speed.

if the camera does not fire:

This is a problem when the older lubricants get dried up and the mechanism freezes in place. 75% of the time a flood cleaning will fix things up. This involves removing the portions of the lens and using lighter fluid or 99% isopropyl alchohol to dissolve the stuck goo.

Thanks for the advice. I returned that Silver [FONT=arial,sans-serif]QL17, and picked up a sweet black one that's in unbelievably nice condition. I'm taking her out soon for some sidewalk antics over the next week or so.

Whats a fair price for a mint 9 Black Canonet
