IMHO, watches are less interesting than cameras. We, comarades, would prefer tools to jewels.

Someone got the tip, and converted those 35mm cine wide angle optics to Leica M or LTM mount. Here is a listing at the flea market that is already ended. You can see some sample images with this 9.8mm lens on a RD-1.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Kinoptik-Tegea-...4QQihZ012QQcategoryZ30063QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
But the seller said that those optics were very expensive in the 1970's. I won't tell you how much I paid for mine.

I bought these 35mm cine primes very cheap. The sellers didn't know what they could do with these strange lenses.
Here is a gathering of my 35mm cine primes most made by Beijing Nr.608 factory. Beijing Nr.608 is a major cine optics producer. They offered a complete line with 20 primes and 3 zooms for 35mm movie cameras, and some more for 16mm cine cameras. The longest focul length is a 2000mm F10 prime, it is a 3 element, 3 group optic that weights 35 KGs! The model name is 35JS 2000. However, the most impressive 35mm cine zoom was made by Changchun Nr.2 Optical Instrument Factory. It was a JS35-30X 25-750 F3.5 lens that weights 5.5 Kgs.
There are 20mm F2, 35mm F1.28, 50mm F1.3, 50mm F1.8, and a rare 2x teleconverter in the image. They will all find happiness with an Epson RD-1.
There are also 5 working Shanghai 58-2 of various versions from my collection.
Cheers

Well, it is better to scan a table of Nr.608 factory's products. These are 35mm and 16mm Changcheng (great wall) brand cine optics offered by this factory. But I heard that now this factory is defunct. What a pity.:bang:
There were a few other factories that made cine products in China.
I found this table from a Chinese book for photographic lenses.

Now here is something that maybe interesting to military equipment fans or astronomers.
This is a lens that was removed from an obsolete Chinese missile tracking system. This is a high power telescope with sharp image quality. It has no marks or any information about who made it, the fucal length, S/N, etc. It also has the military equipment build quality, and it is extremely heavy.:bang:

I heard that it is from a missle tracking vehicle. Here is an image of a US missle tracking system currently listed on Eb#y. Without the lens, the rest is useless. Combined with my Zeiss 8X eyepiece, this lens could produce larger and sharper image. That US tracking system could track a rocket all the way from the Earth to the Moon.

Zhang,
That's the view in BF from your place?
Still in HK, stopped trading equities, and started trading futures contract.
Still want to move to china, but not DongGuang, will just move to ShenZhen instead; when my trading get stable.

Yes, I am the owner of this military piece because no one was interested. I shot the image in my small apartment. I will not buy many of these or my room will be pacted like a ware house.

this has to be one of the most interesting threads I've seen on RFF in months! I'm book marking it.

There is more to life than this.
I only have extented family, so nothing stop me from leaving Hong Kong.
The only reason I am staying coz I am trading here.

Although somewhat unpolite, yet logical, I am curious about Madam XK feelings on your first hand knowledge of Madam Jiang tastes and manners.
Your friend,

You need to know she was more than a first lady back then, she is also in politics herself (art and culture part of the government). That's the different between her and Mrs. Bush or Mrs Raygan.
She was also an national movie star before the WWII.
So, her taste in camera/performance art is just like where Bill Cilton put his cigar to keep them moist, it is public knowledge.

I am shocked at his prices! A few pieces of glasss could cost $35,000.00?! What is so special about these optics? Apochromat is quite common for microscope objectives. But a top quality Zeiss Planapochromat objective could also cost well above $10,000.00!
I heard that a Chinese optical factory in Sichuan province could make very large aspherical lens elements with a special manufacturing process, and it is the first such manufacturer in Asia! Many European and Japanese companies bought lens elements from this factory. I will see if I can locate the source for this information.
And here is another rare vintage Chinese camera, the one of a kind Dong Feng EF-1 120 SLR made by Beijing Camera Factory.![]()

I found a little information about that 3000mm F12.5 survey camera. The lens focus from 500 meters to about 30,000 meters. It is a 13X18CM format camera with shutter speeds of B, 1/15.1/25/,1/50.1/100.and 1/250. But no images of the camera is available.

This lens also has a huge lens cap that was machined from a solid piece of metal. I also made a DIY eyepiece holder so that I could try various eyepieces for optimum performance.

Housing is much cheaper in some smaller cities. I have a friend in Longkou near Yantai where he bought a 90+ square meters apartment for less than RMB 100,000 some years ago.
These places maybe good for retired life, but not convenient for doing business.

Yeah,
But Guangzhou is as far as I will go, most likely not; need to be near to HK for these few years..
I think with WTO and the opening up of the financial market in 2007, in 3 or 5 years, the china futures markets will be the place to trade.
Only in Index Futures now, would like to trade China's Commodities Futures in 3 or 5 years. (They only have Oil futures in HK, and not that active)
So Zhang, are you gonna shot with that thing? (the tracking lens)
