Hey all, was contemplating getting a CL to use with a vc 50mm heliar jahre f2 lens, but was wondering how it does in low light as i'd be shooting it wide open and was worried the baselength would make it a bit tricky? Thanks!

Insufficient information
Provided the rangefinder itself is in good condition. A rangefinder camera is usually easier to focus in low light than an SLR.
Plenty of RF baselength for a 50/2. No worries

As I remember, Leica discouraged using anything wider than f/4.0 for a 90mm lens because of the combination of shallow depth of field and short rangefidner base. But I don't think that there were any other warnings.

I have a CL I have a 40 1.4 CV on and have no problem. I've had no problem with my Planar 50 f2 wide open. Just exercise care in focusing.

Thanks for the responses everyone! I may still end up with an m6 (might be getting one for cheeeap
) but if that falls through, i'll be looking at getting a CL because wow, even the minty ones with fully working shutter speeds, meter, etc. are still waaaay cheaper than a beat up m6
And i like the compact size...one other thing though, i have a CLE and originally was just going to use that with the 40mm framelines and just try to visualize the 50mm framelines but, tbh, i just don't want to do that haha. Does anyone on here do that?
There is an old thread about RF accuracy but the chart disappeared.
Here it is again...the CL is within margin to 50/1.4, 50/2 is a piece of cake...anything over 100% on the chart is iffy.
Notice the 90/4 at 107%.

The chart lists the common rangefinders, the +1.x refers to an added 1.x viewfinder magnifier.

The CL is a fun little camer. I carry one in my car most of the time. I keep a CV 40 on it and 90 rokkor in my console. The meter is iffy so I removed the battery and carry a meter. I just ordered a CV meter V1 And looking forward to getting it.
I have a couple of M film bodies and they're way better but the CL is small, cheap and convenient.
