I wasn't worried, just curious.

Which other grips will fit on the CLE? I am finding the ZI grip on my ZI is really helpful since I always carry the camera in one hand with no strap. I imagine something like that on the CLE would be helpful.

As I know, our dear Joe (back alley) modified his ZI grip to fit on a CLE. Can't find the thread discussing it.

Joe: Will the Bessa grip fit? It is cheaper. I never flinch when buying film or glass. It is only when it comes to buying things like lens hoods or grips that I realize I just want functionality.

BTW, the ZI grip is a permanent fixture so I wouldn't try swapping it from one body to another.
 
Bob, I use the ZI grip myself too. For me, its a cheaper alternative then to hunt for the original grip on ebay. A friend who has the original grip commented that the ZI grip looks better. I did not modify the access to the film rewind as my mobile phone has one of those stylus, which allows me to reach the hidden button 🙂
 
I have come to like grips, and have them on all my cameras for which I can find them. Some like the CLE grip have the added advantage of a strap lug, and I do prefer vertical carry over a shoulder. The CLE grip isn't all that common, but a couple years ago I found one for my original CLE that I bought new, and a few months thereafter I lucked into a used CLE on eBay that came with a grip too... very pleased to be well fixed for grips!
 
I know im in the minority in not liking grips, I just feel they increase the size of a camera im trying to keep compact. I even had to special order my Luigi cases without the slight bump grip! LOL

I know the better solution to use this lens is to get a ZI/Hexar RF/Leica M.

Unfortunately, I only have CLE....
I will find another body for this lens someday.

When I put hex 50/1.2 on CLE, it comes out 40mm frame line.
For me, it's easy to guess the 50mm view.

Yes,it blocks rangefinder about half and is really hard to focus at first.

But once you get used of it, you'll find it isn't that hard.

In my defence, I had my CLE for years before I had anything digital and used it a lot. It has also served as a gateway drug for my recent Leica habit :bang::bang:

The CLE does not get used so much now but I can not bring myself to part with it.

The D300 however is in a class of its own for macro.
 
My CLE wears a leicagoodies.com sling as do all my RFs. I'm addicted to that system--safe, secure, cheap.

Just be sure to take off that easily lost deco ring around the rewind lever, clean the threads of it and the mating surface on the body, put a little Loctite on the threads of the ring and screw it back on tight. I've seen a lot of CLEs w/ missing deco rings! You're SOL to find a new one if yours is missing.
