Comfort Cameras

I think that would be OM-1n + 50mm 1.4 or 85mm 2.0 for me. That little SLR (least evil SLR out there?) has a place in my heart.

I'd say it is probably my Rollei 35 S. I just know I can count on being able to take it anywhere with me and get great pictures.

Tough question...

Torn between two so I'll have both 🙂

My comfort rangefinder is my conatx G1 and the 21mm lens, cant describe why, just feels so right.

and for SLR an old Edixa mat Reflex s with a travemat meter prism and 1 of my many 50mm lenses. My great uncle used to have 1 (which I now also have) and his holiday slide shows captivated me as a child and I just loved his camera, so when I could I got my own and its just so precious to me, way beyond its actual physical value.

As much as I love the 50/1.4 (adore?) I'm thinking an OM with 35/2.8. I really don't care which OM, I just know I've been neglecting the 35 lately. I may just leave the 50 and 28 at home and let the 35 carry the water.

Maitani lives.

Olympus Stylus Epic. Comfort for when I want to take pictures but don't want to (or am in no condition to) think. Plus I feel comfortable taking it anywhere. Results are good enough most of the time.

My old (original German) Rollei 35: complete with dents, missing side screw, erratic frame counter and tempramental lens locking mechanism.

Not my best camera, nor always the favourite: but possibly the most characterful and "comforting" of those I've got.

Oh--and it takes great pictures...

Regards,
D.

What...? You use your camera to TAKE PICTURES! Heretic!

You are banned from this thread immediately... No, you're banned from my sub-forum!

But seriously, yes, I know what you mean. I almost feel the same about my Retina IIa with the non-functioning frame counter, super-poky finder and 'never ready' case.

The trouble is, after around 40 years with Leicas (initially screw, then M) I tend to gravitate immediately to a Leica for pictures. The IIa is gorgeous and easy to use and gives good pics but the Ms are easier to use and more versatile...

Cheers,

R.
