Considering moving from an NEX-7 based kit to Fuji X, but…

Just FYI, Sony is coming out with a new full frame E mount camera today (the A7s) which is probably worth waiting to have a look at since it may have a corner EVF, but chances are it won't have microlenses etc, so while it'll keep the FOV of the M lenses the IQ probably won't be so fantastic.

Just to echo other people's sentiment re: Fuji, the lenses are so good you won't want to use your M mount lenses, and the general output I've found really superb. Originally I got an X-E1 to adapt legacy lenses to, but after getting the 35 1.4 I rarely if ever see the point in using non-fuji lenses. If you're serious about using M lenses then I feel the only real options are the GXR, RD-1 or a digital M.

It is mainly the way I hold it while walking. I wrap the neck strap around my wrist and carry it one handed. The movie button is easy to trip from that position..

Yep.. Same thing.. One time it happened four times in one day while carrying it one handed. I don't think I have ever had it happen while taking out of bag though. Lost enough shots that way to just use my home brewed approach.

Since it is a pretty rare situation for me to even think about doing vide..cameras like the Fuji or Sigma which are pictures first and video last are my preferred cameras.

Definitely no, get the A6000, it was on sale last week, dunno if the sale still lasts, best APSC mirroless in market, CHEAP even at MSRP, not to say the deal.
You still keep your lenses, if you are not happy with them, get the hack Touit deal, you are done..

Or why not just A7, you missed the $1100 kit deal though, haha

My entry into digital was a Canon 20d with the same crop, but I didn't like that camera and my next 5d was so much better, I maybe credited the ff aspect of the improvement a little too much.

I had a similar route and I think you could be right.

XT-1 with the zeiss 32 is a stunning little package. i have an optical viewfinder fetish like most everyone else here, but that's a hell of a little camera.

why do i like the fuji gear?
some of this fits for other cameras as well…

i think that aps-c is the sweet spot for digital, i do not need full frame but i want more than m4/3…
the xe1 gives me a rangefinder (feeling) experience more than the other digitals that i have tried (except for the rd1 of course)...
the lenses are much better than i am…no need for better, but am so happy with the quality as it now is…
the gear fits into my favourite bags (bowery/bbb-e)…
affordable…more so than some other gear…

is fuji the best? who really cares…nowadays the quality of most of the gear available if beyond what i need…it's certainly good enough for me...

Gotta agree with Joe on this. BTW the traditional controls on the Fuji are nice but don't be fooled unless it is a real Rangefinder it is a little like playing pretend. I say stick with the NEX 7.

Keep your money, save untill you can afford a real digital rangefinder. The 7 is good and you're used to it. Like kshapero said: stick with the NEX 7.
