There is no asking price -- the lenses are up for auction and bidding doesn't end for several days. I'd assume they'd go for more than the current price.
Yes, of course. I forgot.

I wonder why he didn't retain the 0.7m coupling.

That was my attemp at mimicking a Leica snob. It was meant humorously.
The colors don't match because G-mount lenses have titanium shells to match the titanium bodies of the G1/G2 cameras. The Leica pictured is chrome. Whoever did the conversion actually did a pretty good job of matching the color of the existing G lenses.

The guy charges $300 per lens for the conversion along with $10 in shipping, and he's located Rowland Heights, near Los Angeles.

This conversion does not appear to be the same design as the Hawk conversion that Robert has. This one has the focusing ring at the base of the mount, which could be awkward to use. Also, no distance or dof scales. Does he use a helicoid or just couple to the original screw drive?
Carl, if you look closely, you can see 1m and infinity marked on the 28mm. So, technically, there *is* a distance scale.
Good price for sure, would be nice if they had 0.7m close focus and complete DOF scales.

Indeed, I paid more than the $580 that sold for to get my 28mm Contax G converted to M mount, which looks like this:

But I love the lens and it pretty much lives on my M6 0.58x.
One day I'll have the 45mm to go with it...

Well. this thread was started over one year ago. Is there no G to M adaptor yet? Is it impossible to simply use an adaptor? or does the lens HAVE to be structurally converted?

I have not seen an adapter nor have I heard of anyone with plans or claims to make one. Given the changes required, I don't see why anyone would bother.

I wouldn't say it's impossible to design an adapter, but it would be expensive to design and manufacture, and kludgy. They exist for NEX and micro 4/3 but those cameras have a shorter flange distance so there is room to fit an adapter in between, and they have a mechanism for turning the AF screw, and enough room for a grip for the user to turn.
The flange distance on an M is almost the same as the G, so it's easier to just convert the lens by adding a focusing helical.

Been loving the 45 Robert had converted for me. I find the 45/2 really shines in our Vermont winter light, which has finally arrived. A light yellow filter and some HP5+ and I'm set till March. The 45 has long been one of my favorite lenses, but the G viewfinder one of my least favorites. Now I have the best of both worlds.

I was waiting and waiting for over 3 months to get an old 21mm f/2.8 converted and it never happened. I guess the wait list for these things is super long now. :C

Don't you mean "an incredibly sweet 21/2.8"???
Keep it much longer and I might have to buy it back from you Kevin! That's if the money tree starts dropping bills around my place again soon.

You have no idea how many people have been without their lenses for far longer than this...I put a hold on new orders over 6 months ago.

It's a good thing you're not taking new orders because I'm not spending any more money on lenses for a while!

I somehow forgot about this thread as I went "shopping" M8, M9, SWC, Rollei 40mm/2.8 ltm. Now it is too late for getting such conversions.
