Once you start adding it all up, taking into consideration all the packaging/boxes included and the rarity of some of those items, the BIN price may not be that far off a fair amount. Of course, this is also more a collector than user-driven setup in terms of where the prices might go. He possibly could have chosen a lower starting bid with no "Buy it Now" option, a reserve and done better.
