Coolpix A pictures

Thanks xpanded. I'm not sure I'm going to bite yet, but at $899, I'm more tempted to do so. Unfortunately, I'm not the camera review type. My reviews would be more "real world" than Steve Huff's even... ;)

Re. review: Who could ask for anything more :D

Totally understand you - getting more and more endeared to this little creature. Phantomas' beautiful picture does not help keep the GAS at bay.

On the upside I have used almost all my photo funds for this year, so it will probably not happen :(

I really do not get Nikon. To me they should have given the V1 away with every D4 sold instead of discounting it. Now everybody is expecting them to lower prices in 6-8 months.

And if they are already letting the "A" go for -$200 they could have got a lot of positive feelings at $899 instead of people saying it is too expensive at $1099. Not as bad as Sigma of course with the SD1, but still incomprehensible to me. Leaks were supposed to test out pricing level but they abstained

I'm not sure what they were thinking, but the first APS-C "pocketable" camera with a 28mm lens doesn't seem that outrageous at $1099 when the Sony RX1 is $2899 and the Fuji X100 is $1299. We are at a weird time in camera making history. A lot of firsts are coming with large price tags. I think it has to do with the fact that everything digital eventually gets dirt cheap, so they have to grab the cash while they can. In the US, most ads make me feel like they think most people have huge lumps of expendable cash. Like the car manufacturer who set up a wedding registry type website so family members can buy separate parts of a car for graduation (or something to that effect). If that is a graduation gift these days, surely Nikon probably feels like they have priced right. ;)
