Have you tried turning off the power and re-starting? I have had film get stuck a couple of times in the Coolscan V, and this has done the trick. I use Vuescan software

Thanks replied
yes, only 2 frames....... it will make the above incident......
I have solved the problem, only use official nikon scan to reset the film adaptor lock.
As I use mac and third party software, it can not reset the film adaptor lock.

That is one of the things I don't like about Vuescan. I decided to have a dedicated computer running a 32 bit OS and the Nikon scan software for my Coolscan. My main computer is running Windows 7, 64 bit. I tried many other solutions. The scanner with dedicated computer has been the most reliable set up for me.

Can you teach how to install coolscan driver in win 7 64bit?
It was not work for my V ED.
I have followed the instruction from some win 7 web site, download "scanners.inf" and copied the file in name of NKScnUSD.dll from nikon driver folder. Finally, I put both files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Nikon\NkScan4\Nikon Files. The device manager can not locate the driver!

I do this as well. I've kept Windows XP on an five year old laptop pretty much just to use NikonScan with my Coolscan 5000. It is better than letting the thing collect dust.
