Whatever
I've been a bit of a baking maniac this last week -- first it was Melissa Clark's pound cake, then the BBC's hot-cross buns (as any good Catholic boy would do), and finally, this morning, this rosemary bread.

It's a 'no-knead' bread, which is a Mark Bittman / Sullivan Street Bakery recipe. In this version of the recipe I used, it only requires 1/4 tsp of yeast, but it's an almost 20 hour rise time. A dutch oven is recommended, but I've made it without it and the results have been fine.
Here is the recipe on Mark Bittman's site, for those of you who feel inspired:

^ Vince, send that bread over to the "W/NW: Get your drink on" thread ASAP! I'm waiting over there with a bottle of wine. That bread looks great!
Now all I need is someone to take a picture of some cheese.
All the best,
Mike

Mike, I'm here with a glass of red, a little bowl of olive oil with some cracked pepper sprinkled on top. Lockdown's actually not so bad...
Seriously, that recipe is easy to make. You just need to be patient and be willing to wait a day before you can have any.

Made in late February 2020 on a walk with a friend just as the world was about to go into lock-down. Probably the last time we have been able to walk normally without worrying about distancing from each other and avoiding other people. Fortunately people in Australia are mostly polite and keen to apply the rules so being out and about on the streets is not unduly stressful. Long walks are a good form of exercise and I miss being able to do it readily with friends.

Nice loaf there.
I've been doing more baking lately as well. Got a new sourdough started with rye grown by some friends of mine:

And some sourdough Hot Cross Buns, which the ever-helpful Cat decided to tread upon:

I also made some pretty excellent Matzo crackers for our friend's e-Seder, but sadly neglected to photograph them.

2012, fit, well rested and feeling ok.
2020, fatigued, older, out of shape, forgot to take off my N95 (not related to coronavirus - one process we use has chemicals that necessitate wearing one of these to meet Workplace Health and Safety requirements) when leaving the lab and going to the bathroom.
Sign of the times, even if I have a camera I like a lot more in 2020.

Yes, Vince, lock-down is what you make it.
Not a fancy wine but it works for me.

Nice ones - I've never had any luck with starters, you're much better at it than I am!

I shot this photo as the corona virus lockdown was about to begin, though I did not at that time realize it, because I thought her T shirt logo was cute. It read: "Anti Social Social Club".
Maybe she knew something we did not - now, what with stay at home orders and social distancing, we are ALL members of the Anti Social Social Club.............................

Lockdown time, phones have become very useful to keep contacts with friend and relatives.
