i desperately want to buy something...i almost broke out the cc to buy that m4-p in the classifieds...

i just cannot fathom being done...

i know...sell it all and then buy an m8.2 and the zeiss 35/2.8...what a simple set up, nirvana, image making in it's purist digital form.

right now i really don't need anything, 2 rd1s and lenses from 15 to 75...a 'normal' lens that i love...

and yet, i scour the classifieds hoping to find that one item that i just have to possess.

i need help...😱

Many off us are in the same boat Joe... I look every day at the classified's. Not that I need anything, but still, you just never know what might turn up that you just have to have!

Don't feel bad about that M4-P ... that had me seriously looking at things to sell in the cupboard. That is a really nice camera at a good price and I've always liked that model Leica M.

My M2 and M3 were in real danger there for a minute or two ... or three!

😀

It is the end of me buying Nikkor-PC 10.5cm F2.5's.

Have one in S-Mount, Leica Mount, F-Mount, and now CONTAX mount.

I also have several other 105 F2.5's in F-mount, but those are marked in millimeters.

joe, not sure what to suggest here as I sometimes find it hard or impossible to resist the impulse...
For example, a couple of weeks ago, I stopped into a local antique store and ended up finding and buying a lens. A very nice lens and the price was silly cheap. $10 for a beautiful Pentax M 50/f1.4 lens.
Great deal except that I don't own any K-mount camera.:bang: My next step was to start looking for one, a K2 or an MX were my quarry. Which would have made that $10 bargain about a $200 expense!
Thankfully, just as I was going to my dad's house for our easter dinner, I remembered that he has a K10d.
So, dad now has a nice, fast portrait length lens and I'm not looking for another camera system.
Dodged a bullet there, I think.

here's an idea:

a lot less than that M-4p and, maybe, a new way to use your RD 1?

You said it well, Joe. You said it for both of us. I have more stuff than I need, and then some. I have too much stuff to take on a trip, because it takes up too much room in the 4-Runner; and because it would take too many trips back and forth to carry all the bags from car to motel room.

And I'm not done. And now I want an M8.2. I think I should sell off some more of my Leica R outfit. Another couple of lenses, maybe one body, and I'll have enough. I rely on my Nikon SLR gear more than the Leica R. Just think: Add one M8.2 body, and lose a whole bag full of R gear.

You said it, Joe.

I'm actaully puzzled that someone as committed to digital as Joe appears to be, would consider a film camera!

That is worrying ... I can see why he's distressed about it!

i'm not anti film...just tired of the hassle and enjoy the ease of digital...30 years in the darkroom and the having to scan for the net...too much for this old man.

but the m4-p was my first leica and a fine machine...even without a swingback!!

Stop looking at the classifieds! I don't look there, so my main source of temptation is meeting people who say, "have a look through the viewfinder on this" or who stick a lens onto my camera for the afternoon. It gives you a certain itch!

Damn I have some strange urges lately... a sonnar 180/2.8 for my P6, portrait nirvana... a nice Contax ST setup, always wanted one of those... or an R3 kit instead? So many awesome options these days for under $1k! Thankfully the x100 has covered my digital mirrorless/walkabout needs. For now 🙂

The M8.2 with the C35/2.8 sounds like an awesome rig, cant blame anyone for wanting it!

Most of us have been there and feel your pain. I have bought and sold 3 M's over the years and one of them even had a lens. Something else always came up that I needed more for my business (at least it was still photo gear) but someday. . .

I'm pretty much done. The only thing that could tempt me, besides a steal of a deal, is a really good deal on a Hasselblad super wide.

I just sold a ton of stuff. Feels really really good.

Now, the trick is to not respend the money on gear, or worse, spend more than I got.

I look at the classified ads here daily. I go through the KEH catalog when it arrives. Then I realize that not only do I not need anything, I really do not want anything.

Some people like owing things, or simply buying new things. Thank you for helping the economy, I am just not one of them.

But I did just remember that I am getting low on 120 b&w film and need to restock.
