could this be the end?

Joe, it could just be your wallet saying it's time to start collecting NIkon rangefinders...

If not, do you have a 21mm Super Angulon? If not, that's the lens to get.
mmmmmmm Super Angulon...

Phil Forrest

... and it works well on the Epson R-D1(s) !! 😀😉

... I go through the KEH catalog when it arrives. ...

But Bob, do you go through it with a highlighter?

My first reactio was - there is an M4-P in the Classifieds? And then I wen t to see it. Even though I already have one, and cannot afford a second one, I was mildly disappointed that it was no longer available. (Congrats Ray on a quick sale - I'm sure this thread helped! 😉 )

I'm going absolutely round the bend at the moment; it must be the changing of the seasons. I even had a dream last night when I was offered a Mamiya 7 with two lenses, one wide angle no less, for £140 a month. I'm dreaming of cameras and how to finance them.... I was in the kitchen this morning before I read this post, thinking of a dream set up.... My latest is......Mamiya 6/7, Leica M6, Nikon D700......

At the moment, I have M8, Hexar RF, 35 Summicron IV and 50 Summilux...

I've annoyingly and embarrassingly posted several times on this issue, and I'm no further forward.... nor, I suspect will I ever be.....

Hahahahah! I'm going mad!

I have the gear I like and have turned my attention toward taking photographs.

This may be a question of age, or of the amount of time in your life you have dedicated to taking pictures, or of forming realistic opinions of the kit you've already tried. Certainly, I have FAR less interest in equipment than I did even 20 years ago, and a good deal more interest in taking and seeing photographs -- hence a trip to Arles every year. Then again, bear in mind that photography has been a substantial part of my living for decades, so I devote a lot more time per day (week, year, decade) to photography than most people.

Cheers,

R.

If you're paying your bills, eating regularly, living indoors, funding your retirement, helping others less fortunate (before you spend $$$ on yourself)..then quit worrying about it and just do it.

Cause..sure as s...., nobody lies on their deathbed (if you get that chance) regretting that gear purchase 15 years earlier. Just like nobody regrets spending less time at work...Jes Doan' Happen 😉

Enjoy your life brother...you don't get another.

Agree with Chinasaur. It's good to be living responsibly and not in destitute. But there's no need to be a complete ascetic. So have fun with your life.

And you can always re-sell it on the classified if you come to your senses. 😀

Thanks Chris, its heartening that our members recognize and appreciate nice gear....obviously I do my share of buying (look at my cabinet lol). I am in the same boat as all our GAS brothers.

I am seriously considering a Nikkor Millennium 50 1.4 with the Amadeo adapter.
There is one for sale here in Norway at the moment.
I dont need it.........but it sure is gorgeous 🙂

A single M4-P ended my Leica GAS years ago.

Nothing you don't need, just a darn fine all mechanical RF with the best viewfinder in the industry. And no, I don't give a whit about VF/RF variation-nit-picking within Leica M bodies. Any one of them is good enough for me, as long as it gives me 35mm frame.

i desperately want to buy something...i almost broke out the cc to buy that m4-p in the classifieds...

i just cannot fathom being done...

i know...sell it all and then buy an m8.2 and the zeiss 35/2.8...what a simple set up, nirvana, image making in it's purist digital form.

right now i really don't need anything, 2 rd1s and lenses from 15 to 75...a 'normal' lens that i love...

and yet, i scour the classifieds hoping to find that one item that i just have to possess.

i need help...😱

That is basically my setup... an M8 and a Zeiss 35/2.8. Totally LOVE it. It is my one lens for a year setup because I can't rationalize another expense right now. However, now that I have been shooting with just 1 lens I think it helps a lot. My mind is free to not think about other lens options... I have what I have and that is it so I am learning to use it as best I can. Its been great fun and I just love the lens and camera combo.

Forget my Nikon's for a minute. my Nex works for me a little like your R-D1's, but I still went and got the M3 when I want pure magic. Get the M4.
