Rather than post a lot of images on an online service like zenfolio or smugmug, I've decided to create a photoblog where I can post selected photos and add my thoughts.

My photoblog

I've only posted a couple of images so far, but you get the idea.

What do you think?

Great idea and I like the two photos posted so far with reservations.

The first is a really good shot slightly spoiled for me by the dust spotting from the scan?

The second is also great but I'd crop out the roll of bubblewrap bottom right if it was mine ... that could be a little tricky though as you might lose some really interesting areas in the photo.

:)

The one suggestion I might make is to show smaller previews of your photos, and let the viewers click on them if they want the full-size image. Once you start getting a large number of images, it will take much longer to load if the full size images are used.

Another suggestion I've made to a couple of the other bloggers here on RFF is to use a non-intrusive hit counting service such as Statcounter. Even for a noncommercial site, it's very interesting to see where your viewers are coming from and who is returning.

Another very interesting thing is seeing what Google (and other) searches are leading to your blog. LOL, the last time I checked, a Google search for "Dido Albert Federowich" brought up my blog as the very first hit! People pay thousands for search engine optimization like that! :) :)

Anyway, good luck with your blog. I'll put it on the list of those I check regularly, which does include a number of the users here. :)

Thanks Keith -- The dust spotting is from my somewhat careless handling of the negative. I've cleaned up some, but it is an arduous task. Wrt the second one, I've tried to crop that photo several different ways, but I always keep going back to the original -- I decided that the uncropped image has more good than bad compared to any of my crops.

One nice feature about this photoblog is the ability to post videos as well. I'll be trying that later on.

The photos you've added since I last looked are superb ... if you maintain this standard I'll be checking regularly! :)

I think you may have some broken HTML in one of the posts. Starting with I Will Sing Forever the layout gets a little haywire in Firefox.

@ Keith - thanks again.

@ Sjixxxy - I just took a look at it and made a very minor change (only as much as I could at the risk of messing up the entire site).
