crons and luxes and elmars, oh my!

Because that just doesnt sound as good as a lux or a cron.
And they both have the "summi" infront, so losing that has more sense tha the "el".
We would have the rit and the the mar then, doesnt tell the story...

why not just write the numbers... I find it harder to differ between the different versions of a lens... and hardest is to differ between the things different people like about the different versions of different lenses

Mars suggests "far away" whereas they are certainly more affordable than Crons and Luxes... which some may find counterintuitive

Very best,

I call em the "Slow Ellies" as them critters are dreadfully slow at f2.8 or f3.5 and clearly lack the star power of their f1/1.2/1.4 cousins from the city

Nothing wrong with the Elmar, it is already very sharp wide open, and can still have nice bokeh:

made a comparison shot with the Industar 22 which above stands next to the bottle:

many people call summicrons; crons...and summiluxes; luxes...why don't they call elmars...mars?

They call a meal that is timed between breakfast and lunch ...> brunch.
Why don't we call a meal that falls between lunch and dinner --> linner?

To be honest, I can't really tell the elmar vs the I22. Tiniest bit less flare resistant, but I think I prefer it, if I had to pick one shot over the other (if I could).
