Hi all,

I recently bought the cv 21/4 with accessory finder (ltm version) for use on my M6. One thing I am not clear on regarding the finder, is the purpose of the dashed frame line just below the top side of the rectangular frame line. I thought I had read something about it having to do with what kind of camera the finder is used on, but after much search I couldn't find any reference to it. I Does anyone happen to know the purpose of the top dashed frameline? I have one shot with this finder/lens with the subjects head cropped, but maybe I was just out of it when I took that photo.

Thanks,
Sean

I own the same finder and as I remember the dashed line is used for close-focussing distances (some kind of "parallax compensation").

maddoc is correct. The top of the photo will fall at the dashed line at the minimum focusing distance. The bottom of the photo will not be seen in the finder at that distance.

For in-between distances, you have to guesstimate. btw, some finders actually tilt up and down to compensate for parallax - you adjust them for the distance of the subject.

Thanks! I thought I had read something about it viewfinder sitting higher on some cameras compared to the bessas, but your explanations make more sense. I'll use it with confidence now.
