I love threads like this
I predict 100 posts by this time tomorrow, and a price of around 190,000 yen for the lens![]()

If it's true, it will cause the price of the other speed masters to be brought back to reality. As previously mentioned, if it's anything like the 35mm f1.2, it will be an instant hit!

Very valid point, if this lens is only fast but cannot deliver a good, sharp image across the frame by f4 or so, then I will be disappointed. I am not getting a super-fast fifty to just use wide open, but to have an extremely versatile normal lens.
Ideally it would be nice if if could match my Heliar 50/3.5 at f5.6... but I suspect that is asking too much from any fast 50.

Nerd question: Why a f1 lens should be two or three times more expensive than its f2 "brothers" ?? I mean, where´s the real point for this, besides offer and demand?

The best camera is one that still works!
Anyone notice an disproportionally high amount of replies to this thread are from Australia?
We have a pretty go ahead Voigtlander distributor down here ... Scott from Mainline hasn't hesitated to send a new folder 'walkabout' for a few months on a travelling camera promotion when they get here .
Hmm ... I wonder if we can get him to do a travelling Nokton 1.1 promotion?

Well, if they do same thing as they did with the folder - make it a "limited edition" of only like 1000 lenses, they can charge what they want and still sell them. But I hope it'll go the same route as CV 35/1.2.

Yeah, already seems like I underestimated
Cosina has some very talented optics design engineers so I expect the lens will be a great performer stopped down a bit.

I can't see why it shouldn't come in at around 50% more than the 35mm Nokton ... which would keep it under $1500.00 USD which is OK!

Well, at $1500, you can find a Hexanon 50/1.2 for a bit more and it would have to be a pretty great CV 50 lens to go against Hexanon.

I'd like to see a shoot-out between this new Nokton and a M-Hexanon 50mm f1.2.
Hoping it'll be 55m filter diameter or less, to make it really pocketable
Funny: Just the other day I quoted Tom A. on fast lenses and gathered a fast lens with the specs he summed up, might be Voigtlander fudder

But the 35mm Nokton is great value at $900.00 (admittedly it has no competition) so few hundred more for an ultra fast (new) 50mm doesn't seem unreasonable to me. At $1500.00 I'd take it over a used Hex every time!

Is it easier/less expensive to make a super fast 35mm lens or a 50mm one?

Let's not start the same war that is going on about the pricing of the Bessa III...
As far as I know the Hex 50/1.2 is not a current production lens, so while the Hex 50/1.2 can be compared to the supposed CV 50/1.1 in performance, but not in pricing. As far as I know there is no other f1.2 or faster RF lens in production other than the new Noct. And I hope Cosina does not take their pricing lead from Leica!

It's only a rumour yet (I believe it when Stephen announces it), but people are already complaining about falloff, price, size and weight! Unbelievable!
As for falloff, size and weight, well, 'you cannot change the laws of physics'.
Would I buy one? Oh yes, yes, YES!!!!
If they can make a 35 f1.2 for 800$, why not a 50 f1.1 for the same amount? We'll see.

From what I know ... (bugger all!
