Well I'm quite PLEASED to have taken YOUR advice Joe....
I lent my C Sonnar to a friend who had similar difficulties
so I called ZEISS in Canada /which had a phone #
there was no tel # for the location in the USA .
They were most helpful and instructed me to phone
Richard Schleuning (NJ).
Spoke with him and he instantly sent me an Email
requesting a form to be filled out & shipping the lens to him...
He will send it to Germany to be optimized at 1.5
****FREE OF CHARGE****
and see if there are any other issues to be dealt with
Turn Around Time 3 weeks plus shipping Time

I'm over the Top...Quite Cooool indeed
Zeiss has certainly acted
in a most Professional & Speedy Manner

who knows...I might have a TRES COOOOL C Sonnar Soooon. !!

the Early version C Sonnars were optimized at 2.8 / the latter & Newer @1.5

my sonnar should be back OPTIMIZED in 2 more weeks....
I did Find this shot on one of my Rolls before she left for Germany....
Quite LIKE it...who knows the CSonaar might become my FAVORITE 50
aside from the Model being GORGEOUS , One can 'SEE' the Character of the Sonnar in Full Bloom !

I haven't looked in on this thread since Helen decided to give the C Sonnar another chance. A small fracture in the universe is repaired, as not seeing what Helen would do with this lens would have been a shame. I am sure it will become her favourite 50. Looking forward to the photos.

I'm loving my new (to me) Nokton I must admit! 🙂

I was pretty concerned at how it would focus @ f/1.5 on my M8 but looks like I got a great version, almost every shot I've taken wide open seems to be there or there abouts. Took a whole roll up on family shots on the weekend on my M2 and hoping they look great too on Tri-X. Took this one earlier in a country pub on the M8 and loving how it looks in BW. Early days yet but I think this could be the start of a beautiful relationship. 😀

Very, very nice! I tried a Nokton, but my copy had a back-focusing problem. Returned it. Anyway, looking forward to having my Sonnar back from Zeiss (I banged the front-end of it, now it's loose), so's I can start shooting at f/1.5 again. Have been "suffering" with my Planar 🙂.

It's got that 1950's feeling to it 🙂

Keep up the great shooting....ohh btw your German friend is rather cute, she'd make a very suitable "cold war" spy type.....just hand her a Luger or a Minox B lol!!!!!!!!

Well Helen, things have been slow....I charge to shoot the models, and many of them are broke, struggling with work etc. etc.

I do have a fetish convention coming soon here in Fla. and I expect to have at least 5 to 10 models over that weekend, and using some of my gear that's been dormant ~ My 43' f1.5/50 CZJ Sonnar T ~ 50' f1.4/50 Nikkor SC CF/"Tokyo" ~ 57' Nikkor HC f2/50 CF/"Japan" ~ my 1950's Canon's f1.5/f1.8 50's and my trusty 67' Canon f1.2/50 and the newly aquired 68' Canon f1.5/35 going to be divided between my M8 and M6 ~ digital and real film all weekend!

I'll more than likely post an entire thread of work up just from the show, hopefully it won't be deleted for being too risque?

Sorry for the mini-hijack, but I have been considering adding a fast 50mm and it dawned on me that I do not really know the difference between Zeiss and CV lenses. As I understand it they are both made by Cosina in Japan now.
 
Chris, the lenses are made by Cosina on contract with Zeiss, using Zeiss design and engineering, and Zeiss quality control. With a higher price point, some different materials, processes and designs become feasible.
