Just throwing the idea out there.
If the lens will play nice with the X-Pro1, I'd rather the 21mm focal length over the 23mm.
Thoughts?

on 1.5 crop difference is 31.5mm vs 34.5, not really a practicle FL difference, imo.

Don't know, but I'd suspect that a manual lens, vs. an electronic lens may hold it's value better in the long term. That's just my opinion though.

For me, it also has to do with wait time. I really need a lens between my 15mm and my 35mm. Not having one is messing with my shooting style.

If you use it on other cameras as well, it might be worth it, if not, not.

Just get the zoom. IS will make up for the aperture difference.

I don't shoot with zooms and don't need the aperture for stability, I need it for better depth control.

AF PLUS whatever backend wizardry Fuji puts in the mix. Despite having many fine 35s to choose from, I tend to go with the Fuji 35 that I bought with the camera. I suspect it will be the same with the wides....

Fuji's design is likely to work better with the camera's sensor, meaning sharper corners. The importance of which tends to be wildly over-rated for most purposes, anyway. On the other hand, nothing else feels like a nice, solid MF lens.
Your call. I'm probably going to get the Fuji when it is released.

I've got the nikon ai-s 24/2.8 with a Kipon adapter for the time being. Im hoping this will do the trick until fuji releases their 23/1.4. I'm so bummed that it won't be available for so long.

Just get the X100, Free body included.
You probably already know, but I would also check the minimum focus distance if you are still considering the Ultron or other legacy lenses, especially when you want shallow DOF.
I am personally comparing Fujis own 18mm and the upcoming 14mm. So many great choices

Good point.

not quite the same lens...
not quite the same lens...
but i've gone for the CZ 21mm f4.5 instead of the fuji, because...
1. I don't think I'll need AF for my usage with this particular lens (mainly stopped down)
2. I'd rather have a lens that can outlive the camera. I don't want to buy too many fuji lenses in case I change back to a full frame system in the future.
3. It is a really nice lens
