different film holders?

hey all i have a v600, I'm trying to use canon 9000 film holders.
I've been just putting the film on the glass. but i want to see if i can use the 9000 film holders.

right now the scanner warms up and then stops. I use vuescan and have tried the epson software. Is there a trick to this?

Hi,

There is a note in the V600 instruction manual that says “Make sure the white stickers on the back of the film holder and the areas around them are not scratched, dusty, or covered in any way. If the areas are obscured, the scanner may have trouble recognizing your slides”

I think the scanner “reads” the printed information on the film holders. This may be why the scanner will not operate with the Canon holders. I hope this helps.

Both scanners look for a "calibration gap". They are in different places and of different sizes on each holder, therefore, it will usually lead to calibration problems that will often cause the software to work incorrectly. In addition, the Canon film holder suspends the film at a different height off the glass, so even if you get the Epson software to give you a scan, the scan will most likely have less than optimal sharpness.
