I checked "third party half case" because it was closest to being right, but I actually use a Leica half case (the "camera protector").

It's a nice black leather case and is cheaper than some third-party ones.

I like the feel of a naked camera in my hands, too, but the camera does wear faster that way.

I don't use one, only have a leica neoprene case for protection when its in my bag (normal sholderbag)

I have 2 Zhou M cases and 1 Zhou case for LTM. Mr Zhou uses quality materials and his cases appear to be nicely hand=stitched. The case not only does it protect the camera from wear and tear, but the built-in "kidney" grip makes is easier for me to hold. Without the case, the bare camera feels a bit slippery to hold. Not everyone likes the case, but it certainly works for me.

I also think the M3 in a black Zhou case looks smashing.😉

I've had the Zhou 1/2 case for 2 weeks now. It is really a nice option IMO. Tried the Luigi basic case and did not find it much better to grip. I have bigger hands and prefer a bit more mass to hold onto. The Zhou case is under $75 or so new. I have them on my RD1 and ZI also.

I used Luigi's case and thumbs up on my M8 and they felt so much a part of the camera I now use them on my M9. I did not sell them when I sold my M8. I did not cut the case for the thumbs up and it works fine.

I have a Zou 1/2 case, slow shipping from China but nice quality for the price. I use a 135mm F2.8 w/Eyes on occasion and it mounts with the case on. I have an 8.2 grip from Leica and really like that, but can not mount the 135mm while the grip is on.

Issues that I wonder about is the case may over time create a wear down on the covering of the body with taking it on and off to get to the card and or battery. I'm certain I could drop the price of a used cron into a base plate to let me swap batteries and card and a half case from you know who to solve that, or... buy another nice piece of formally driven glass. OR, just go Leica Naked and enjoy the freedom and simplicity.

I opt for a Luigi Half Case with cut out for ThumbsUp. The built in grip in Luigis Half Case in combination with RFF softie makes it possible to go hand held using as low shutterspeeds as 1/10 or 1/5 with ´cron 2/35 and/or 50.

I use his case also. Very well made. I used to be in the trade professionally make high end purses, boots and saddles. His work is better than average and the price can't be beat.

I used the Zhou case on my M9. Gotta protect the investment because the M9 is the last camera I'll ever get. The leather on the Zhou is very nice and quality is good for the most part. The cut out on the back was a little bit off, so part of the back doesn't fit (upper left of the LCD where it meets the viewfinder). But overall, the Zhou case is a great value at $65. Oh yeah, the kidney grip makes it much easier to hold the M9. It's a pain in the butt to have to remove the thing every time I need to take off the bottom plate.

I use a Leica half-case that came with my M8 (got a whole bunch of stuff as a used deal). Personally, I find the naked M8 to be a horrible handling camera -- as slippery as a fish (very unlike a film M). I tried the grip first. Didn't handle as I desired, and a bit too bulky. Switched to the Leica case, and it gives me enough additional purchase to handle the M8 easily. It also provides some protection.

I just bought an M2, and find that it handles well right out of the box. But naturally, I ordered a (Zhou) case for it, since I'm kind of used to that feel (and the bit of protection) now.

I also use wrist straps rather than neck straps. So shoot me 🙂.

I do use a side-grip on the M8, but never a case with any camera. Years ago I used a half-case with the SLR, I guess just to protect it from knocks, but even then the M2 went "nekkid". 🙂
