Dude, you know, the Iskra is only good at F8 and beyond!

APX100 @ boxrate in Diafine (bad choice of developers, but was in a hurry).

All shots are f5.6 to f3.5

You know what they say man, do never try anything different ! ;)

Great shots, I specially like the first one for its humor, and love the distant expression on the last one.

Nice series, and what a charming model she is ! :)

Great photos. The Iskra is a great camera. Of course, the problem is that it is too eye-catching. Your model too, but thats not a problem ;)

Danke, Bertram.

Seems every time I mention the Iskra, some joker has to pipe up that the camera is crap below f8, blah blah blah. Simply not so. Same sort of rumors about the Kowa 6 - another oft maligned piece of history, another camera fully-capable of execution with very nice results. However, people love to trash it.

Either way, voici! Some proof that the Iskra is a capable shooter at any end of the scale. I sure love having one again.

Not sure I follow you about the Iskra being eye-catching. Would you elaborate?

Sorry, my english is terrible and I used a dictionary (badly :bang: :bang: ). Maybe "striking" is more appropiate for the camera, you know: big size, the bellows...
When I use the ISKRA everybody looks at the camera and even ask me about it, so it´s difficult to take candid photos with it.

That's what I supposed you meant; really, when yer as big and ugly as I am, the idea of remaining inconspicuous is inane, whether shooting an XA or a 4x5 - I simply can't "stay out of sight".

:D

That and the first shot are my favorites of the group. Good luck with your Iskra - if you can, get it fixed. Amazing camera.

Let the jokers blab! It'll help keep the price$ down for those of us lusting after one(or both)!
Those photos of yours must be some kind of fluke to be so good! :D

Well, some have fun with taking good photos and some have fun with spreading their blah..blah..blah all over the www

I haven't read any derisive comments concerning the ISKRA yet but I have received such stuff for my Yashicamat 124G .
I once put up a 124 shot in a gallery and instead of a comment referring to the pic i got this (original quote) from a guy in France:

The yashica "Tessar" is not a good one. I’ve test few version and alls are soft when I compare to my Rolleiflex T. Finally, I've buy one for beneficiate of this softness

This guy obviously visits web galleries looking for an opportunity to bother somebody with his "competence". To each his own, some Anoraks count silver grains with a 25X loupe, but why should this concern me ??? WE only decide if we like and use a lens or not.

Keep them coming,
bertram

Its more likely that its the photographer thats no good up to f8 !!!
Like all folders it will require care in using it. I remember one guy who used to yank open the front of his folder, with some force. He could never get good results until it was pointed out that not only would he damage the alignment of the camera, but the vacuum caused would probably cause the film to bulge through the film gate. When he stopped doing this his shots improved.
I once opened my Fuji 645 folder too quickly and distorted the bellows to the extent that it would not close again, until I unloaded the film and pushed them back into shape.

What would be bad about it? Here is an example that I posted in my Gallery. With the Iskra at the lower settings. I like the kind of mosaic-looking out of focus stuff in the background. (I don't know how to describe it really, impressionistic?)

Ok, here is the picture

I suppose you all ment apertures with numbers bellow 8? And not a smaller hole than 8?

(BTW in other forums it is supposed to be bad manners to post pics of ones own children :) . From what I have seen it doesn't seem to be like that here, or?)
