I am having trouble in obtaining black and white filters for my M2 - out of all the manufacturers, who do you all recommend?

B&W. I have a couple of Heliopan 39mm filters as well which seem pretty good but the coatings on the B&W filters just seem that bit better, they seem to repel stuff so stay cleaner longer and are easier to just wipe off with a microfibre. Not much difference in price so I will be sticking to the B&W filters in the future if possible.

I ordered a set of 39mm Kenko B&W filters at Yodobashi camera in Japan for about ¥2000 each. Not sure if that's a domestic only thing or not, but they are coated and work good...

I look for any (preferably B+W) at second hand camera markets. I often find some great bargains.

I prefer B+W as well. I tried a Hoya SMC but it seemed much harder to clean. The coating on the B+W seem slick and I can usually blow dust off quite easily. I might actually have some 39mm I can part with as I don't have the lenses for them anymore. I'll have a look and let you know.

Sorry yes B+W. They even look really nice, black ones look and feel like anodised brass. I have their 040 Orange in 39mm, it gets used a lot.
Hoya filters bought cheap from outfits like Amazon seem really good for the money. I bought a couple in 46mm, a UV filter and a yellow/green which seems a difficult type of filter to find new these days. I think the B+W filters are a step up but they are also much more expensive.
