eBay deadline for sellers--No longer using Paypal; Problem registering

Yep, there it is.
Seller's final value fee now averaging 12.5%, up from 10%, but minus the PayPal fees. so small savings (~.5%) for small volume sellers. High volume sellers - and those who run their businesses through eBay, save the most.

To me using PayPal instead of bank account is very significant feature for online sales and purchases.
And if eBay has their interests over customers choice, screw ebay.

I was successful in signing up for eBay managed payments, didn't run into any issues. However I don't care for it - payments are super fast but I prefer keeping my gear hobby out of the main finances. It's easier on the wife not to see money going in and out! 😛

Will this entail ebay occasionally sending us a code number for us to key in as well as sign-in normally, as paypal does now?

If so, then I probably won't be able to use ebay any more as I never use my mobile and I refuse to leave it switched on all the time just in case they send a number for me.

Will it also include the "sending a 1pence/1cent/1euro payment to the bank account of which we gave them details and then tell them when we get it thing" like paypal did?

PS: Huh? I don't get it, this seems like ebay is trying to cut out paypal altogether

The complaint some people are having, is with this new Managed Payments plan the seller isn't getting their money quickly at all, often not arriving for several days.

You will note they claim a three-day turnaround, if I remember correctly. I surmise it's a standard ACH sort of thing, so that's normal. It's been faster for me, but it may be a timing thing between the two entities.

I’ve done the same. Another layer of protection.
Isolates other finances and is also a nice way to budget.

eBay seems to be cutting Paypal out of the selling process. They now require sellers to provide their bank and social security info directly to eBay, similar to the way it is with Paypal. ...

Go directly to your eBay account and fill in the information from there. PayPal no longer receives the funds from sales. Instead of being sent to PayPal, eBay is holding the funds and depositing them directly into your checking account.

Buyers can still use PayPal for purchases.

This could be a good idea. But since it would be smaller than the regular account, there could be a monthly charge. But I guess that could be avoided by keeping enough in it. I wonder if it should be a second checking account or savings.

They simply send payments to your bank for sales that you make.

You'll see a record of this in ebay as well as with your bank statement.

as stated earlier, they are rolling it to ebay accounts over time.

I used a separate bank account for wire transfers when I sold at westlicht auction .
it isolated my main account from online / international activity . there was a minimum balance I had to keep in it though .
I had noticed buying some items lately that the payment went to eBay and listed as pending for a short period on PayPal.
perhaps some of you started on eBay and PayPal 20 years ago when the PayPal fee was 1.9% and eBay was 3.5% if I remember correctly so fees are more then double and they make you pay a fee on shipping cost also .
the site was more like a huge garage sale back then .
now they charge state tax 8% in ny to me as a buyer ,
basically they are following the lead of amazon and zappos - the customer is rarely wrong - free returns - and minimum seller protection - they want you to ship next day - or download an online tracking number at least.
so I think many times about listing but don't use their service currently

Well, they already have that. Is there no need to agree to the change from Paypal to non-paypal?

Sales tax depends on state, in Hawaii (like most I think) if a website (ie, amazon, ebay) does over a certain amount of sales to customers from that state they have to charge that states sales tax percentage, capiche?

And yes, now that my funds don't go to my Paypal, I decided to use one of many online banking services just for ebay sales. Wife was getting a bit irritated with all the new transactions coming in!

There are two things I don't like about it (beside the fact that I don't like change in general). They want us to provide a picture of a cancelled check. I don't see how it's any of their business, who I have written a check to. And they want a social security number. It says right on my SS card, "For social security purposes only. Not for identification."

probably has something to do with your bank. You should have options of verifying the bank without check (i.e. online verification). Typically two ways: one is you login your bank via ebay so you have instant verification; or they deposit small amount money (1,2 cents) and it takes a few days to verify.
SS code is most likely for tax purpose since they are depositing money directly to your bank account.

I'm really surprised apparatchiks from EU are not pit-bulling those buggers.
