50mm Elmar-M on Leica M9

Wonderful picture! I love everything about it: subject, composition and color. And I think the light is a big part of what makes it special, with great shadow fill and soft contrast.

The pictures didn't come through. Are they of these lenses on the M5?
The Head Bartender says no. So I won't try with my M5 and Elmar-M. But luckily my Heliar f2 is safe!

But you have 2 M5's John? Surely one of them is worth it!
😀
I think I first realized the depth of your regard for the M5, Michael, when you suggested mounting the SA on one, and the Elmar-M on the other.....
Well, mounting an unmodified SA or collapsing an Elmar-M into the M5 would destroy the metering stalk, but I wouldn't expect damage to either lens. (I believe Michael knows this. He was just kidding in post # 306. Note the 😀.)
Coelacanth shows how to mount the Elmar-M safely in post # 272. I like the idea. The M5 is the only way to get an accurate 50mm frameline with metering.
Yes - sorry -- Aussie irony, and I forgot the 🙄
Rightoh back to images....
Sorry for the phone pic
I don't have the Summicron
So Summitar with adaptor, 21SA and Elmar-M
All focused at infinity

Just curious, but that looks like the original Elmar in an M mount as opposed to the latest Elmar-M. Does the recent Elmar-M collapse the same distance into the body? If so, how do you all store it off camera? Collapsed with a deep rear cap or extended with a standard cap?
Excellent travel lens. How often does anyone go to 2.0?

Observant, but no cigar
Elmar, 3.5 & 2.8 50's (feet) and -M (90's)
