Thank you Vincent!
Brilliant work, karlin!
That's fantastic! Hope you print that and hang it up -- very worthy image.
Surprised by the "slowly warming up" though. The Elmar-M is one of those lenses that I was smitten with the very first time I saw images from it. Flawless to my mind. 🙂
Beautiful photo, Ophir.
The Look of those Eyes... so Intense!
Are they your children? They look so willing to pose for you.
I find that our taste for 50s is similar, except I haven't try the red scale elmar, 50/1.5 Sonnar, Collapsible Cron and M-Hexanon myself.
This lens is sharp, and the contrast is there but I think it's from modern coating, lack of flare and just sharp rendering of the lens, not from decisively contrasty optical design. I find the lens to be very forgiving for black and white. I think this lens has a classic and vintage-like rendering while staying extremely robust against flare/ghosting thanks to modern coating. Also the ergonomics/handling is far better than the older counterpart.
Some Elmar-M lenses, mine for instance, have the rear elements uncoated. One of my other favorites has this too: the Color-Skopar 50mm f/2.5. I guess this is done to keep the contrast moderate.
