Whatever
Hi, this is my first post on this forum. I have a GF1 and E-P2, and have had great results with my Leica M lenses, ON the GF1!! BUT the E-P2 has been a very different story.
I have found focusing the GF1 very easy, and get very sharp results!! The E-P2 on the other hand is a pile of crap in comparison! I have not been able to get more than a few sharp results, even using the MF assist the results are very poor? I have tried both Leica and Voigtlander lenses on the E-P2, and both return poor shots.
I can even hyper-focus the GF1 and get stunning results!!
Anyone had similar problems with the E-P2, or do you think I my have a duff example?
Many thanks
Steve
Hmm...Although I can't specifically speak to the use of manual-focus lenses (my M-mount adapter is on the way though!), I don't really have too much trouble using the micro-4/3 specific lenses in MF mode. That said, I do prefer to use my E-P2 in AF mode. That electronic viewfinder is so nice, so if you do attempt to try it again, maybe make sure that the diopter adjustment in the EVF is adjusted to your eyes? I'm sure you've probably already done that, but I can't really think of anything else.
Who knows, once I get the M-adapter I may find the same focusing difficulties that you've experienced. But for now, I am extremely happy with my E-P2. It definitely fills a void for me (gives quality imagery in a relatively small and versatile package), and right now I'm actually shooting a magazine story with the camera.
I hope that you'll soon get be happier with your E-P2 and MF lenses.

If you want a nice case, get Aki-Asahi's--it's only $100 and is just as nice. Actually it has a really distinctive style.
Yeah, those are pretty sweet! I may just take the plunge on one of those - I really like the black one with red stitching!

Just a follow-up to dfatty, on an E-P1 you can't leave only the Zoom view active. The standard/default live view with info can't be turned off. All other views can be turned off, and there are 7 of them.
Keep in mind that the ISO/WB/Burst/AF/OK wheel/button functions are not available in Zoom view, so you have to toggle out of Zoom view to change ISO, WB, etc. That's the reason I only have two views active, Zoom and default, so I only have a single toggle between them.
It would be super-duper-stupendous if Oly managed to add a Zoom view option to the Fn/Function button, allowing one-touch magnification without having to neutralize the control wheel. I'm not holding my breath.....

oops, thanks for catching that, so since the standard/default view cannot be turned off the minimum is 2 views active if you want one of the views to be zoom.

Ok. Just one pic to bump the thread. Here is a snap taken with the 75 Cron Asph; resized and down-res'd for posting, but no sharpening.
And one with the C/V 12mm Heliar.
