Don't understand your POV re: my post...
I agreed with the Concept that its absurd to be such an extreme fundamentalist with Film in the World today
like some are at APUG
They dabble in the World of technology scanning, PP, printing which ineviably can alter the 'Look' of Film
Yet they can only criticize those that use digital/ digital Techniques
Whats wrong with my Thinking ?
I'll tell you what is wrong with it.
You and the other person you quoted are lumping everyone who frequents the site into one broad stroke of hypocrisy. Not everyone who shoots film, scans and and slathers it all over flickr. Some make wet prints that are not to be "shared" on the web but instead, are completed works that are shown in person at a coffee shop, mailed to friends and family or end up on gallery walls.
This is a laurel that some on here like to play games with, to call afoul that APUG it self is a purely digital operative, posts are digital, internet is digital and therefore, the photos that have to be digitized.....are also....digital.
This is what people who just LIVE for the internet love to do, find fault anywhere they can, pull no punches, have a verbal free for all that makes this whole site look bad....and you and Keith made it look BAD Helen...
Do you know how I "share" my work Helen? I shoot an iPhone pic of the actual PRINT in a tray of water, in it's matting or some other contextual narrative that makes it both hard to copy and takes it as far away from the digital junk show as I can. I put flattened fiber portfolio prints in empty outer shells of both a broken iPad-1 and 15" MacBook, just to have a nice jab at the whole notion of showing work like the rest of the world...it's a damn good marketing hook, gallerists and private collectors get it right away and LOVE it.
A 9 year old thread gets revived and *this* is what you do with it, lump everyone on the site into one nice self indulgent bashing.
