Nikkor 50/1.8 (Yes, I was that close with a normal lens; I think this titmouse had hit his head on the window and was a bit stunned; he flew off a couple of minutes after I made a couple of shots):

Very nice Paul ... a reminder of why it's always good to have an SLR at hand.

I was reading up on the FE2 at the mir site the other day ... it's quite a significant camera and pretty well mirrors my FM3A minus the hybrid shutter.

How was the Acros processed incidentally?

Thanks, Keith.
Good ol' D-76 1:1 at 68F, 10.5 minutes.
I intend to nab an FM2 as a companion to my FE2. I trust the FE2, and carry spare batteries, but I cannot stand the idea of not having an all-manual version of the same cam. The FE2's meter, by the way, is incredible ...

It's amazing that Nikon managed to provide a fully manual version of the FM3A within it's own design ... dead batteries no worries, it still provides all the shutter speeds up to 1/4000 courtesy of that amazing hybrid design. The meter is very good also.

I think I might have to get some D-76 ... I like the way the Acros looks in your pics.

🙂

Thanks.
The Acros really is too civilized for an old river rat redneck like me. But I had to try it; I bought 5 rolls of 36-exp for something like $12 shipped off ebay a couple of months back. That speed makes it mostly a tripod film for me unless the light is mid-day strong.
As for you trying D-76, you might want to know this: I spin agitate 10 seconds every minute with my Paterson kit and the little spinning tool. I spin 30 seconds for every minute of fixer.

Thanks.

I just started using a 100ft roll of LP100 which of course is the same film and I wasn't expecting it to look like it did having never used it before. It's a very good film IMO and I do find ISO 100 to be the sweet spot for me!

It renders mid tones much better than I expected. (this was in rodinal)

I've tried to get hold of Acros 100 here in Scandinavia, but evidently it sold out and when the run is due is anyone's guess?

Nikons & Neopans 🙂

Two kids out and about on Black Friday. [big version]

Nikon FE2, 85/2 AIS, Neopan 400 @ EI800, XTOL 1:3.

This setup explains why I don't feel a very strong desire to get a short tele for my M6.

Oh, yeah — it's a great camera. I'm on my fourth one (thanks, irq506). Everything you need, nothing you don't. Well, there's one thing I don't need: the ability to do multiple exposures. But that's the only extraneous feature; I've routinely used every other feature, and don't wish for more. Not least: TTL flash, and it syncs at 1/250.

That was actually one of my major reasons for buying my FM3A! 😀

The FE2 goes for around $100.00 for a user from what I can figure and the FM3A for silly prices depending on condition and the only real difference is the non battery dependancy of the FM3A due it's exotic shutter!

I wouldn't mind a spare body to back up my FM3A and an FE2 should be more than sufficient at a fraction of the price.
